Hmmmm. SF has a fairly large population of people with compromised immune systems. What better place for rapid spread of a plague?

Aaaah, Fleet Week -- of course. It's every May. I should have remembered. It's around this time every year. There will be lots of sailors in the Times Square and other tourist areas. Thanks for the follow up

I guess Kim Jong-il doesn't like Syria and China any more? Weren't there Syrians and Chinese on that train? This sounds like a smoke screen.

How's our favorite fruit vendor?

It's working on being a weird week, very heavy attendance at mosques, followed by unusually surly møøselimbs.

I had to go back and re-read the posts that you replied to....it just goes to show how much is happening every day. And the common denominator is "religion of peace" involvement. May we all stay alert and safe. I believe that the Lord is helping us to stay aware, so that we can be prepared for anything.

The new guy's been there every day since the fruit stand returned to the spot two weeks ago. People still lining up for his fruit. My commuting buddy buys from him but I don't.

Let's take time this coming weekend to remember all those who have fought to give us freedom. A special tribute will FINALLY be given to the WWII veterans which was a long time coming.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY: World War II veterans are headed to Washington to dedicate a memorial to their sacrifices
By SHAWN ANKROM, News-Sun Staff Writer
A humble yearning is pulling hundreds of thousands of World War II veterans to the nation's capital, a longing spurred by the fact most of their fellow patriots died before seeing the memorial honoring their fight against tyranny.
Their country called upon them more than a half century ago to help beat back a worldwide threat to freedom.
Now old and in the twilight of their lives, these men and women gave their youth to fight a war, a sacrifice not officially memorialized until now.
This Memorial Day weekend, the survivors of history will attend the dedication of the National World War II Memorial Saturday in Washington, D.C.
"The rate the veterans have died in the last few years just us old guys will be able to go up there," said Marvin Horton, 82, who left the U.S. Navy in 1947 after six years of service. "It's been a long time coming."
More than 400,000 U.S. soldiers died during the war. Now WWII veterans are dying at the rate of about 1,800 a day, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Official celebrations will span four days in Washington beginning Thursday and continuing through Sunday, according to www.wwiimemorial.com.
The History Channel and C-SPAN have each agreed to carry the two-hour dedication ceremony "live" starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
In another article of the same story it says this: The United States remains al-Qaida's prime target, the report said. An al-Qaida leader has said 4 million Americans will have to be killed "as a prerequisite to any Islamic victory," the survey said.
Hmmmm...makes me wonder how many we have arrested and let go. For example the men taking pictures of refineries back in January, and many other incidents that have been posted here over the last eight threads. Will this story even make it to the evening news? I doubt it...more stories on alleged prision abuse, unimportant drivel...etc.
I wonder how they come up with their numbers? 18,000?!
They estimated 20,000 al Qaeda terrorists were trained in Afghanistan before we went to Afghanistan and rooted out the Taliban. They claim to have killed 2,000 al Qaeda since that time. The 18,000 figure is an estimate, not a hard count. There is no accounting or estimate for how many new al Qaeda have been recruited since we entered Afghanistan. In short, the numbers are unsupported by facts. It sure makes for flashy headlines.
With the weather starting to warm up, I'd like to remind everyone to increase your water supplies in the 3 day kits kept in cars or at work. Also, re-evaluate your clothing in the kits keeping in mind the higher temps.
Just a reminder. Had to remind myself this morning.
Justpiper and I both noticed unusually heavy attendance at Mosques on Friday, she's in the Chicago area, I think, and I'm in Lansing, Michigan.
There was no apparrent reason for the heavy attendance. I checked the schedule at the Islamic center down the street from me and no events scheduled.
Indie has indicated that the Muslims he works with have been unusually surly the last few days.
Lucky you.
Unusual high attendance at mosques: See post #s 1660, 1681
Unusual møøselimb behavior: See post # 2232
Just some isolated dots...
