What does it take to get the attention of the fools out there?

weeks, before turning in something that could be part of a bomb.

Next we will hear that some fool took it home for the kids to play with.

Oh Dear! Why a "Black Death" article NOW??

Last Updated: Saturday, 22 May, 2004, 23:12 GMT 00:12 UK

Black Death 'is lying in wait'

Plague affects around 1,000 people each year
The Black Death, which killed 23m people in the middle ages, could be lying dormant and could strike again, say researchers.
Their claim is based on the theory that the pandemic was triggered not by bubonic plague but by another virus.

The theory is outlined in a new book by Professor Christopher Duncan and Dr Susan Scott of Liverpool University.

"We believe this virus is merely lying in wait, ready to strike again," said Professor Duncan.

The Black Death is thought to have caused the deaths of up to 200m people worldwide over the past 1,500 years.

The body of evidence suggests that it was bubonic plague

Dr Michael Smith
In the 14th century alone, around 23m people are thought to have died after the disease ravaged much of Asia and Europe.

Globally the disease still affects between 1,000 to 3,000 people a year. However, if caught early it can be cured with antibiotics....(snip....more at link)

Bangladesh Hit by Twin Ferry Disaster, 240 Missing
Sun May 23, 2004 11:57 AM ET

DHAKA (Reuters) - Two river ferries capsized or sank in Bangladesh's storm-hit south Sunday and 240 passengers were reported missing as divers began a desperate search for survivors.

One of the packed ferries carrying around 250 people overturned early Sunday on the Meghna river and 50 were rescued, the state news agency BSS said. Earlier reports had said up to 300 were aboard.

A second ferry sank on the same river just one km (half a mile) away and 40 passengers were missing, police said. Six were rescued from that vessel.

The disasters were the latest in a long series in the history of impoverished Bangladesh.

Divers were searching for survivors trapped in the upturned hull of the double-decker M.V. Lighting Sun, which had been sailing to Dhaka from the southern Madaripur area when it was swamped by the sudden storm near Chandpur, 170 km (106 miles) east of the capital.

The other ferry, M.V. Diganta, sank while sailing from Narayanganj, near Dhaka, from coastal Gournadi district. Survivors said the storm hit after it left Chandpur, its last stop before Narayanganj.

Villagers joined the search for survivors, witnesses said.

"I could hear people screaming and chanting 'Allah save us' .....(snip)

In the link you posted it says this:

There is an investigation into the discovery of an infrared motion sensor that was placed in the track bed of a SEPTA train yard in West Philadelphia.

And there are serious questions being raised about how SEPTA responded.

Naomi Jones/SOUTH PHILADELPHIA:

"It's just scary that they waited like that, they put lives in jeopardy I feel."

Harry Graves/NORTH PHILADELPHIA:

"With the situation going on in the country now it would seem that something should be checked out as soon as it is heard."

SEPTA says it did check out the device, an infrared motion sensor and transmitter similar to one spray painted black placed along the tracks in the train storage yard on the approach to 30th Street. But how they checked it out is under serious scrutiny. Action News has learned a conductor found the device on May 5th. SEPTA employees took it to the maintenance shed and tried to disassemble it themselves. They later turned it over to SEPTA police who placed it in a locker for a week.

Does that mean they found to devices? Similar to one spray painted black placed along the tracks?

Kerry acts like a grade school loser.

His true colors emerge, no matter how hard he tries to act like a blue blood.

There's been a lot of scurrying around trying to protect these choke points which are VERY vulnurable. Better late than never. If they ever succeed in shutting one of these down we are in big trouble, especially the oil shipping lanes.

CHOKEPOINTS

STUPID is as STUPID does............from your link Ruth

SEPTA says it did check out the device, an infrared motion sensor and transmitter similar to one spray painted black placed along the tracks in the train storage yard on the approach to 30th Street. But how they checked it out is under serious scrutiny. Action News has learned a conductor found the device on May 5th. SEPTA employees took it to the maintenance shed and tried to disassemble it themselves. They later turned it over to SEPTA police who placed it in a locker for a week.

On May 13th, someone heard it beeping and decided to call the Philadelphia Police Bomb Squad. The bomb squad found it was not explosive and called the FBI. At that point, federal agents began a one thousand meter perimeter search of the area where the device was found. They were looking for other possible components and other evidence. Nothing else was found.

More seriously, with paper trail free electronic voting, how long do you think it will take before Bush is "selected, not elected"?

The whole purpose is to delegitmize the voting process. Without an auditable hardcopy trail no election results will be fully trusted.

The losing party can throw the country into months, or even years of divisive debate about the legitimacy of any elected candidate's status.

It's pretty clear at least one party would rather be in charge of the smoking ashes of a once great society, than share nearly half the political power of the mightiest country in the history of the human race.

They want it all, even if it is all of nothing...

True. This country will go down the drain with Kerry or Hillary in charge. I beleive Hillary will be nominated in the end. God forbid she gets elected.

She won't replace Kerry (health reasons) until 60 days before the election.

With CFR in place how will an effective campaign to expose her be accomplished?

Will the press tell the truth?

Not likely!

She'll get fawning 24/7 coverage. Bush will be mentioned only in passing, and only to be slammed for some grievance real, imagined, or manufactured...
