According to law enforcement officials at the scene the rented moving van used by two Israelis involved in the high speed chase near the tiny Appalachian hamlet of Mars Hill, N.C. last week tested positive for drugs, the MadCowMorningNews has learned exclusively.
While the FBI dismissed the finding as a 'false positive,' local law enforcement regards the test as highly accurate.
A spokesman for the FBI also dismissed the importance of the liquid tossed from the van by the men during the pursuit. "It's really no more than littering to be honest," said Thomas Browne, supervisor at the FBI's Johnson City, TN office.
"The Mystery of Mars Hill"
The dogged persistence of local officials in the face of seeming Federal indifference paid dividends when information surfaced this week indicating that the mysterious liquid the men threw out of the van during the pursuit can be used "as a culture, for growing some kind of bug.
Notwithstanding these developments, the two Israeli men were released from government custody, after a judge in Erwin, TN suspended a 30-day sentence and turned the pair, 23-yr old Shmuel Dahan and 19-yr old Almaliach Naor, over to the INS.
In earlier statements, INS officials said the men would be subject to immediate deportation. Yet despite convictions for evading arrest, and being in the country illegally on tourist visas, the Israelis were freed on bond Monday morning, a discovery made in a phone call to Summit Moving Van Lines in Miami, the men's employer.
When the caller asked to speak to Shmuel Dahan, a man answering the phone there said, "I'm 'Shmuel."
Even as it went away, at least officially, we learned of a possible New Jersey connection to the case, which one wag dubbed The Mystery of Mars Hill. LINK

Hello 'officials'
quit selling us down the river and do a PATRIOTIC job for a change!!!
Idiots. Traitors.
Billdos.
As an american citizen, being artrested for evading arrest in a van that tested positive for drugs and explosives, I would still be rotting in jail.
If it smells like a NWO conspiracy, looks like a NWO conspiracy, and acts like a NWO conspiracy, it must be a NWO conspiracy.

I'm just hoping a moving van doesn't show up at my door. If I'm AWOL better send in the.....
Gosh I'm not sure who to call.
Welllllllllllllllllllllllllll, it sure does increasingly look in a list of ways like
all the warnings about Pearl Harbor which were ignored or just didn't quite get quite far enough in time to make any difference.
Sigh.
Glad God has it ALL in HIS hands.
Thunder Bay police released two people despite the discovery of more than half a tonne of red phosphorus, which can be used to make powerful bombs or illegal drugs, concealed behind furniture in their rented U-Haul truck, a spokesman for the force said yesterday.
"Its very difficult to hold someone in those circumstances,'' Chris Adams, spokesman for Thunder Bay police, said yesterday, although he acknowledged that the 12 large drums each containing 50 kilograms of red phosphorus was sufficient to make a large bomb or $100,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine.
Mr. Adams said the driver was given a summons under Ontario's Dangerous Goods Transportation Act, which requires he appear in court July 9.
After unloading the 12 large drums from the U-Haul van on April 17, police allowed the man and his female companion to drive off in the van. Police found the hidden drums after stopping the truck during a routine seatbelt check on Highway 11.
Red phosphorus is a legal and not uncommon type of phosphorus. In Canada, its possession is legal but it requires a permit to purchase or transport because it can be explosive if improperly handled. Used in matches, fireworks and to create "tracer'' streaks when artillery shells are fired, red phosphorus when mixed with oxides can create a devastating bomb. Crude but powerful truck bombs made by mixing widely available materials have been used with deadly effectiveness by terrorists both in the United States and abroad.
Mr. Adams said that "as far as Thunder Bay police are concerned this is a drug-related investigation'' although he acknowledged that the 600 kilograms hidden in the U-Haul was a very large amount.
The driver of the rented truck said he had been paid $4,500 to drive the vehicles from Vancouver to Toronto and claimed he was unaware of the 12 large, bright blue drums, each bearing explosive-warning stickers, hidden in the back. The vehicle was registered in Arizona.
Thunder Bay police wouldn't release the name of either the driver or his companion. Both had British Columbia driver's licences, Mr. Adams said. They "were released with a ticket.''
Both the Ontario Provincial Police and the RCMP were alerted to the seizure. Neither responded to queries yesterday as to whether the investigation had been expanded to include a possible bomb-making effort.
In Washington, there are persistent fears that al-Qaeda will again use Canada to as a transit point for terrorists and bomb-making materials to enter the United States.
U.S. law enforcement and counterterrorism officials declined comment on the seizure and the decision to release the driver.
I honestly don't know anything about it. If I get some quiet time tonight I can do some googling.
OMG. I read the rest of the article. This is outrageous!
The question is whether this was for drugs or explosives how did they get that much without raising any red flags?
What did they mean it's difficult to hold someone under these circumstances?
Why weren't they questioned about who hired them, if that was true?
I don't get it...
Also the story today about going into the naval sub base in Georgia with improper papers, why would they do that? It's almost like they want to get caught, or do they think we are that stupid?
Local Men Arrested In Massive ATF Bust
RENO, Nev. -- Federal agents working undercover at gun shows in Nevada the past year have arrested 14 suspects -- including two East Palo Alto men -- on charges ranging from dealing firearms without a license to illegal possession of machine guns and explosives, agents said Friday.
The FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and local law enforcement agencies joined to apprehend the 13 men and one woman in five Western states -- Nevada, California, Utah, Idaho and Washington -- as part of "Operation Over the Line."
Laquan J. Abdulrahim and Lamar Reid, both of East Palo Alto, were among those arrested. Reid was charged with one count of possession of firearm while under domestic violence restraining order. Meanwhile, Abdulrahim was charged with four counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person; one count possession of body armor by a violent felon, one count possession of a firearm by a person under indictment. Abdulrahim (nice Swedish boy, right?) has explosives. I know, I know....I'm moving along....no dots or clues here. Poor misunderstood fella. That's it. They probably meant he's a fella, not a felon. (Groan)
Thanks, Canada. They're probably on their way here now.
I was thinking earlier that perhaps we are that stupid. Maybe they had goten in before, so they thought they could get in again??
goten = gotten (letter "t" sticks)
