departure of Muslims

Recent departure? Any more info on this?

What is the purpose of the GWEN tower? Your post on this from the other day was the first I had heard of it. I googled to figure of what it is and eveything I came across was (IMO) wacko "mind control" tin foil sites. Thanks.

From Railway Age Soon, all transportation employees may be flashing Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) cards for unescorted access to secure areas of railroad, seaport, airport, pipeline, trucking, and mass transit facilities. The Transportation Security Administration has issued a RFP for a seven-month test of TWIC smart cards with biometrics (such as a fingerprint) that will positively link an individual to his credentials, increasing the speed and efficiency of identity verification. TSA anticipates that 200,000 workers will participate in testing in Philadelphia; Wilmington, Del.; the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, Calif.; and 14 major port facilities in Florida. “This technology will not only improve security by keeping known terrorists away from vulnerable areas,” said David M. Stone, TSA’s acting administrator, “but it also enhances the flow of commerce and protects individual privacy.” According to TSA, a threat assessment will ensure that known terrorists are not issued TWIC cards or able to gain access to secure areas; numerous advanced credentialing technologies will safeguard against the use of fraudulent credentials; communications technologies tied to the program will allow TSA to interface with other federal, state, and local agencies. In addition, TSA will send out targeted “threat alerts” to key facilities and shift resources based on intelligence data or changes in the threat level.

Some are taking action. Way to go!

Vigilante Groups Formed by Some US Citizens Along Border with Mexico
Greg Flakus
Tombstone, Arizona
20 May 2004, 05:57 UTC

In recent years the desolate desert region around the border between Mexico and the U.S. state of Arizona has become the major crossing zone for illegal aliens and drug smugglers. The unlawful entrants have caused damage to private property, national parks and Indian reservation lands along the border. Some private citizens have formed vigilante groups to oppose the border incursions.

True.

And most Chinese on Taiwan are 'confident' that Beijing will not invade 'because they want all our wealth.'

Taiwanese are exceedingly naive on that score.

Beijing will invade for pride alone if it comes down to that. They would even obliterate all the citizens with a neutron bomb or 20 or however many, if they decided that was their preference.

Beijing is HEAVILY into personal PRIDE, EGOS, CONTROL FREAK STUFF and NATIONAL PRIDE. And, they are more than a little paranoid and territorial/POSSESSIVE about the western Pacific being THEIR TURF.

I take my beloved Taiwanese friend's confidence with a very small grain of salt. Beijing has been doing a LOT more than threatening in recent years. They have been building up their capability to take Taiwan at a break neck speed.

I know Poohbah dismisses the possibility wholesale. And, he's much more militarily aware than I am in a lot of ways. Nevertheless, I still would put my money on Beijing invading before 2012 and probably before 2006 is out.

And that's not even considering all the dreams and visions a long list of people around the world have had.

A close Chinese friend should be home to the USA from a Mainland visit soon. Will see if he has any change in his feelings about it.

Authorities Find Drums Leaking Bleach in Stolen Tractor Trailer (Ontario, California)

The Associated Press ONTARIO, Calif. -- About 160 metal drums, including one leaking bleach, were found Wednesday in a stolen tractor trailer at a tow yard, authorities said.

Litmus tests indicate the bleach had a pH level of 14, which is the typical level found in household bleach, said Mark Merchant, a spokesman for the California Environmental Protection Agency.

No injuries were reported and the area was not evacuated, authorities said. The stolen 53-foot trailer was found in Riverside County and towed to a yard several miles from Ontario International Airport, said Battalion Chief Dave Schuler of the city fire department.

Schuler said authorities were contacted about 8 a.m. after the trailer owner opened the trailer and discovered the drums. Schuler said the drums contained flammable and corrosive fluids, but declined to say what labels were on them. "There's a small amount of leakage inside the trailer," Schuler said. "We're trying to find out who discarded the materials." Crews with the EPA and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control were investigating. "It's not a threat to anyone. It's stable. We're going to get rid of it," said Jeanne Garcia, spokeswoman for the state substances control agency. Link to Article

Well obviously the testimony should be kept private. How did Rajib Mitra get the apparent Motorola info to hack away. Is he a Motorola employee?

I think he figured out a way to jam the channels, rather than had secret software. Motorola, of course, doesn't want this out in the public domain since they charge so much money for radio products that are easily hacked.

Greenville chosen as home for unit dealing with terror weapons
5/20/2004 10:48 AM
By: Associated Press

(GREENVILLE) -- The North Carolina National Guard has chosen Greenville as the home for a unit that deals with weapons of mass destruction attacks.

Military officials announced the decision on Wednesday.

The headquarters of the 42nd Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team will move to Greenville from Raleigh in August. The team, the only such National Guard unit in the state, provides aid to local and state emergency responders during a suspected terrorist attack or serious incident.

Similar teams will eventually be based in every state and U.S. territory.

The team will be activated when emergency officials in communities suspect an incident involving weapons of mass destruction has occurred or a device expected of triggering such an event is discovered.

Thank you for a rational website. Some of those other sites were pretty entertaining. Some people think there is a conspiracy under every rock!

Explosion In Istanbul
Anadolu Agency: 5/20/2004
ISTANBUL - An explosion occurred in a vehicle in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in Kadikoy district of Istanbul, sources said on Thursday.

Sources told A.A correspondent that an explosion occurred in the parking lot of McDonald's on Acibadem Street in Kadikoy district around 6.15 p.m., causing serious damages in two vehicles and shattering windows of the fast food restaurant.

There are no immediate reports of casualties in the blast while police rushed into the scene of the explosion.

The fast food restaurant was evacuated and the street was closed to traffic.

Kadikoy Subgovernor Yuksel Peker said that police thought the explosion was caused by a bomb placed under the vehicle or in its trunk.

Noting that police were continuously receiving tip-offs that bombs were placed in the fast food restaurant, Peker said that therefore, police were searching whether or not there were any bombs in the restaurant.

I found this link that has a little bit of info on the story. The story says that one dog died and the other two were taken to a shelter. This makes me believe that the driver kept going.
