Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., charged on Friday that the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. military guards has compromised the entire war effort in Iraq, saying that combat soldiers "fighting and dying" in the war on terror are also now under a cloud of suspicion.
"So many brave young Americans who are fighting and dying are under this cloud," McCain claimed during Senate testimony on the prison abuse scandal, contrary to the contentions of even most of the war's critics, who say the scandal reflects on the perpetrators of the abuse alone.
The maverick Republican contended also that the scandal had "diminished" the sacrifice of football player turned-military hero Pat Tillman, who was killed in Afghanistan two weeks ago while saving his fellow troops from attack.
"He and others, unfortunately, at least in some way are diminished by this scandal," McCain told the Senate.
McCain predicted that U.S. support for the Iraq war would wane, warning that it could become another Vietnam, unless the military came clean about the prison abuse scandal.
"We risk losing public support for this conflict - as Americans turned away from the Vietnam war they may turn away from this one - unless this incident is quickly resolved, [with] full disclosure immediately," he said. "The American people deserve immediate and full disclosure of all relevant information."

Translation from McCainspeak:
"Hey, President-elect Kerry, can I be your Secretary of Defense?"

McCain ought to know better. He more than most should understand the horror of battle and war; bad sh*t happens in war. When your butt is on the line survival takes precedence over the morality of peacetime. The idea that wars can be fought "on the field of honor" went out with mounted knights. Today the survival of the free world depends upon the success in this war against terrorist ragheads. I say that that justifies almost anything. Besides, the whole issue is being way overblown by a left wing press whose agenda calls for the destruction of what is left of the Republic.

I have lost my last shred of respect for McCain. Hanoi Kerry and Bagdad McCain would make a great team. I think they should select Ted Kennedy for Secretary of Defense.

Wasn't McLame tortured by his Vietnamese captors ? You would think he understand what Real torture is. John McCain is an embarrassment to the 99.9% of troops serving honorably in Iraq.

I just left this message on McCain's website:
Your attack on the Secretary of Defense during a time of war only benefits our enemies, both foreign and domestic. At a time when Democrats are trying to Vietnamize Iraq, your standing as a POW (and a hero in my eyes) helps them to avoid being exposed for their partisanship.
I will not vote for someone who assists in the demonization of America while the war is going on. You and John Kerry would make a great ticket. You should consider Ted Kennedy for your Secretary of Defense.

McCain aka RINO the RAT knows that this is all politics and that is all it is. The washington post had all of this "abuse" of prisoners nooooze printed in March of this year in their paper about the incident and its investigation. Some of the photos of a GI raping a poor Iraqi girl turns out to be from a porn site run by a Linda Macnew (sp?) here in the states.
IMHO the waste of time an effort in this RAT induced feeding frenzy is an diversion for their whippin boy F'n John who was getting Kerried away and caught up in his own lies.
Sorry state of affairs and a waste of resources ...........Stay Safe !

I think they should select Ted Kennedy for Secretary of Defense. Submarine Commander Edward Milhouse Kennedy should be Secretary of the Navy.
He instantly transformed an Oldsmobile Rocket 88 automobile into a submarine. Think what this can mean for the future!
Mary Jo might not approve, however.

McStain knows nothing of war. He knows what it is like to fly a plane and be a prisoner that is all. He is doing a major disservice to our troops and our nation. Bush and Rumsfeld didn't abuse these prisoners, a few MTV assholes did. The more this garbage continues, the more angry I get. I hope other Americans are get made too and will take it out on Kerry and the rest of the hate America crowd this November.

Last week Senator McCain decried his Democratic 'colleagues' for referring to President Bush and VP Cheney as Chick Hawks, and for referring Iraq to Vietname.
No wonder is has a fondness for Senator Kerry, the flopping flipper.
