[history]
Lynndie England loved a good storm. During tornado warnings her mother would have to drag her back inside the house. Her teachers say she wanted a career as a storm-chaser.
Now, the perfect storm has found her.
From hometown hero to the reviled woman holding the leash . . . US Reserve
soldier Lynndie England with an Iraqi prisoner in Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison.
Photo: The Washington Post
The petite 21-year-old army reservist from the quiet crossroads town of Fort Ashby in West Virginia is the most visible character in the controversy over the abuse of Iraqi detainees at Abu Ghraib prison. She is the thumbs-up girl, the pixie-ish, T-shirted soldier, smiling, pointing and posing for the camera with naked and humiliated inmates.
Soon after the release of the photographs, Terrie England was on the telephone with her daughter while watching television.

You are so right!! Insensitive is the correct word. If I knew your origin I would give you a proper stereotype. It was only a joke! I have family in Falling Waters and almost moved there myself. As for my origin, look at my name-Have at me with all the drunken Irish jokes. I'll laugh right along with you!

The photo's are not the problem that everyone thinks they are .Yes they are disturbing BUT they are a symptom of something far more dangerous , the complete breakdown of command authority and the complete loss of good order & discipline within the ranks of the military intel & military police troops at this post. How far the rot has spread has yet to be determined but it must be stopped at all costs because with out discipline an army is nothing more than a really heavily armed mob running amok.

And what about the 9-11 hijackers going to a nudie bar the night before their attack? What about the Gitmo prisoners masturbating in front of their guards? Simply too many have been sucked in by the Islamic "humiliation" canard. I personally find women humiliating Muslim men, who I'm sure are devotees of Islams brutality of women, quite refreshing.

"the complete loss of good order"
ahem, that's hyperbole. A few incidents does not make for a 'complete' anything.

Wow, that's a harsh does of ugly reality.
I believe that the terrorists in Iraq that we find wantonly killing others with IEDs and terrorist car bombs should be subject to the death penalty.
Would you believe our politically correct CPA banned the death penalty?

I'm sorry. Your right, her appearance hasn't anything to do with the issue and she can't help her looks anymore than I can help mine - which isn't anything to brag about.
I'm just an old, unreformed Male chauvenist who likes a nice-looking woman, but again, it has no relevence here.
Your right.

Found the 15 minutes of fame in her life and an avocation, I'd say! She needs to be made an example of, as do all involved. But her family's statement that it is Bush's fault 'cause he was never in a war, is somehow, judging by their daughter's demeanor, appropriate. Where's Carville when you need him?

"This was done to save American lives, an objective seemingly quite unimportant to a great many people here."
Please explain to those of us on this thread who have a shred of human decency (note: this leaves you out) what humiliation of Iraqui prisoners has to do with saving American lives.
"Now excuse me, while I go puke."
Yes, you are a puke. As I said, there is NO excuse for this behavior.

I have to say I do admire you for your response, and your honesty, alone, makes you a better man than most.

The Major General who kicked off the investigation around four to five months ago, said it was systematic. For something that some don't consider to be a problem, the Army had a CID team involved within 24 hours of the first report. I still don't understand how some who have served claim they don't care or don't care that there was a breakdown in command authority, or the implications involved in that.
Thankfully nobody here has said anything along the lines of "well Saddam treated his people worse, so anything our troops did is okay" (or at least I haven't seen anybody say that). I saw that on another forum (more militarily oriented) and a nice little flame-fest followed. Comparing the actions of our troops to a sick bastard like Saddam and saying they were okay, was not the wisest thing.

My father was in WWII, Korea, and retired during Vietnam. I asked him about it this week. He saw this as a sign of morality problems among our youth. He thinks when everything comes out, you'll find it was mostly young troops.
He said you have to focus on the sexual aspect that dominates many of the instances that have come out, that it differentiates this from the past, hence the problem with morality. I tend to agree.

I have been arguing that what they were doing isn't torture, and could very well be a necessary evil in extracting information from a hostile.
Well, Kirby Wilber on 570 KVI here in Seattle, just read off a little history of Garner and England.
Garner's former prison had UCMJ action taken against 12 of it's staff for doing EXACTLY the same to American prisoners as they were doing here. Garner's divorced wife had to take out 3 restraining orders against this POS. England is Garner's fiance...and she is now pregnant.
This is not proof, but pretty well leads to the conclusion that this had nothing to do with interrogation and all to do about a sick losers getting their jollies off at the expense of our nation, and probably at least one innocent Iraqi.
We need to waste them hard, and publicly.
