God Bless Our Military

Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation’s leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.

We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.

Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mountains Can Move!

A familiar slogan about prayer is, "Prayer changes things." But prayer doesn't do this—God does. Some people think that prayer itself is the source of power, so they "try prayer," hoping "it will work" for them. In Mark 11, Jesus disclosed one of the secrets behind all true prayer: "Have faith in God." Not faith in faith, not faith in prayer, but "faith in God" (v.22).

Jesus told His disciples they could command a mountain to be cast into the sea, and if they believed it would happen, it would. Jesus then gave them His meaning behind that astonishing promise. He said, "Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will" (v.24). Jesus was speaking about answered prayer. We can ask and receive answers only if our asking is directed to God in faith and according to His will (1 John 5:14).

I've often wished that I could move mountains by faith. Having once lived in Switzerland, I'd like God to move the Alps into my backyard in England. But He has done something much more important: He has removed mountains of worry, fear, and resentment from my heart and cast them into oblivion through my faith in Him. He is still in the mountain-moving business! Have faith in God and pray! —Joanie Yoder

God Bless our wonderful Military.

Please God, allow those that are working within the confines of morality and good judgment and who suffer hardship and sacrifice every day to ensure our freedom, to rise above the scandal and horrible acts of the few.

Please Father, bless our heroic military members past and present and place Your bloodline of protection around them. Bless their families for the painful sacrifices that they, too, must endure.

Allow the press to separate the good from the bad, the evil from the righteous, the lies from the truth instead of lumping all together for the sake of sensationalism. Allow the public the intelligence to see the difference between the two. Allow me the patience to continue to pray rather than pass judgment on the weak....who am I to pass judgment on anyone? I am but a sinner - Your humble and contrite servant - an instrument of Your love and forgiveness.

I ask for these favors from You in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Little bit of "Shock and Awe" involved in your essay today, JH, so I'll suspend my usual 'Dear John' Letter accordingly - -

We are indeed the victims of the wars being waged by a world wide group we label 'terrorists' - and a more sinister one within our nation, steadily eroding our beloved Republic.

We are assaulted daily by our liberal hydra types, who like the mythical monster, if you cut off one of its nine heads, two regenerate from each one.

Riding the emotional roller coaster, reading through the essay and initial replies, one is thankfully brought back to center by our Finest Family!

Dismay is voiced, followed by The Mayor's much appreciated Daily Bread; aptly today with the answer to it all, admonishing us to stand on faith.

Brother Dave then eloquently stresses we must pray our way through this and all other adversities - - pray for every aspect, and then pray again and again.

Thank you, Billie, for this oasis of sanity in the midst of the storms - thank you, John, for keeping us in focus - and thanks be to all our Finest regulars and visitors who with their contributions make our lives more tolerable.
