CONCORD, Mass. - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) took a spill from his bicycle while riding Sunday afternoon but was not injured, a campaign official said.

Kerry was riding with Secret Service agents through Concord, about 18 miles north of Boston, when his bike hit a patch of sand and he fell, campaign officials said.

"He's fine. They took the bike into the bike shop and he went home," said campaign spokesman Michael Meehan.

Kerry was in Massachusetts — he has a home in Boston — enjoying a break from the campaign trail. It was not immediately clear on what road in Concord he was biking.

Kerry, 60, rides his bicycle as often as he can and sometimes brings it with him on the campaign plane.

BTW, did you notice Kerry had two water bottles on his bicycle? One bottle had Evian and the other had Perrier.

I wouldn't be surprised if he bathes in it. No regular tap water for the "man of the people". Ha!

What do you expect? According to the earlier bio post, he was a soccer player. He has no hand-eye coordination.

If he were a Republican, between the ski slope fall, and this incident, the press would be ruthless. (Remember the number they did on Gerald Ford?)

He also fell down on a wet floor in a convenience store in Utah during his ski trip.

I think I've found the solution to Lurch's balance problem in an excerpt from Parenting Magazine:

Swings give toddlers a sense of independence, with Mom still safely nearby. Plus swinging stimulates the inner ear, which is necessary for developing good balance.

Teresa needs to get John a swing set to play on.

Clipless Pedal System

Consists of metal or plastic cleats in the sole of the shoe that attach to a binding on the pedal. There are different clipless systems, including Look®, SPD®, Time and Speedplay.

Advantages—Offer superior foot-to-pedal energy transfer for efficient pedaling. It also allows you to pull on the upstroke for even more power.

Disadvantages—Have a steep learning curve; difficult to get out of when learning to use them and when mountain biking.
