John Kerry's commanding officer was just interviewed on Fox News. According to Lt. Commander Grant Hibbard when Kerry showed up in front of him requesting a Purple Heart, Hibbard saw that he had a "scratch"(Hibbard's word) on his forearm. And because, according to Hibbard, there was no report of enemy action on Kerry's patrol that day and the "scratch" did not receive medical attention from a medical officer, Hibbard declined Kerry's request for a Purple Heart.

Hanoi Kerry at his "moment of glory."
What a piece of ******
The media WILL NOT mention this book.
I will!
The cover is a insult to Iwo Jima vets,
then it gets worse towards Viet Nam vets.
I was there the same time Hanoi Kerry was.
I served on a Destroyer which supplied PBR's
and gave gunfire support in North AND South Viet Nam.
My ship may have even supplied Hanoi Kerry's boat.
I VOW I will do everything I LEGALLY can
to keep this traitor from being elected.
I owe it to those who gave their all.

Kerry did his homework before going to Vietnam. He never planned on staying for his full tour. Only went because it would look good when he ran for office. Got the medals by hook or by crook and scrammed. What a slug he is.

That's what I thought. But since it was behind a hootch who knows. Was the guy dead, alive, still shooting, what.....
And if it wasn't seen, how do you get a Silver Star for it?
And if it was seen, then what's the narrative in the award citation that describes flying bullets, etc.

Neither do I. The problem for the Libs/Kerry/Dems in equating the WOT with Vietnam is that the dedicated troops over in Iraq witnessed 9/11 and have voluntarily given up all of the comforts of home to ensure as best they are able that it does not happen again. The terrorist attacks against us that led up to and including 9/11 were not abstract concepts or as they put it in the 70's a "political war" when referring to Viet Nam. That pretty much explains one reason the Democrats and the press are so insistant on separating 9/11 from Iraq and Iraq from 9/11; indeed, they must separate Iraq from the idea of terrorism wherever possible. They need to make Iraq a mere 'political war,' a 'trivial war,' as opposed to a part of the WOT.
They need resignations of key figures but because none of their targets has left the Administration so far. The Democrats have had to settle for very vocal resignations or 'whistleblowing' of small time democrat hacks and clingons instead. Notice though, that in each case the spin has been that those resigning or coming out with damaging info are 'republicans.' (Ambassador Wilson, Richard clarke, etc.) It always turns out that they aren't, but that is always the spin. Since they can't get the real thing, they need at least the appearance of Bush administration officials getting the boot for political reasons, for standing up to the admin's actions against Iraq.

35 - "Kerry received his first "injury" just 24 hours after he arrived in Vietnam. It seems he had no intentions of staying any length of time. So he had to figure out a way to get the *ell out of their."
I searched his papers and can find no supporting data/paperwork for his first PH. The second (a 'wound in the left thigh - no lost time that I can find) third are apparently miniscule, and he was sent back to duty from sick call on the third, with no followup treatment, and a pronosis of 'excellent' (a scratch on the arm and butt).
But no one even willing to report the first incident on his evaluation report covering the 2 dec 68 'incident'.

LOL - His Commanding Officer got him back, on leaving Vietnam he was assigned to a transport ship and went on an Artic tour to Goosebay, Labrador, and Thule, Greenland.

The only kind of 'soldier' that would REQUEST a PH is one that has plans after their "soldiering" days are over and wants their C.V. packed with politically useful tidbits.
LBJ pulled a similar stunt. I guess small minds think alike.
"While it has become fashionable in some quarters to wear full-size medals on a fatigue jacket or a suit coat, active duty military officers wear miniature decorations and awards on their mess dress uniforms. President Lyndon Johnson wore an enameled Silver Star Lapel Pin while in the White House. How he "won" the Silver Star generated some controversy. As a congressman during World War II, Johnson volunteered for the Navy and received a direct commission as an officer. On a fact-finding tour in the Pacific, the congressman from Texas was sitting as a passenger in a transport plane when the aircraft was buzzed by a Japanese Zero. The plane took no hits and doubt later surfaced that the Zero actually shot at the American aircraft. But Congressman Johnson, always looking for a political edge, pressured commanders to award him the Silver Star. Johnson was the only one on board the aircraft that day to receive a valorous decoration. LBJ's Silver Star was real, but the bravery was artificial.

"Stolen Valor" by B.G. Burkett and Glenna Whitley.

205 - "Kerry cheapens the real thing."
I agree. Running those riverboats in those days was a really dangerous thing to do, and I think that the average crews suffered something like 80% casualties.
I think Kerry thought it was going to be fun and games, and found out fast, it was no joke, and hightailed it out of there as fast as he could to save his ass.
