Islamic activists: Terminate Severin

WTKK-FM (96.9) afternoon personality Jay Severin is still on the hotseat for alleged anti-Muslim remarks made last week despite a Monday explanation he was misquoted and taken out of context.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations called on WTKK-FM to fire Jay Severin yesterday, citing transcripts showing he called for killing American Muslims during a show last week.

Severin has said his comments during his show on 96.9 FM Thursday were aimed at religious fanatics killing Americans.

But CAIR executive director Nihad Awad was not impressed after reviewing transcripts provided by press sources. WTKK would not provide CAIR with a tape.

``The actual transcript is even worse than what had initially been reported,'' he said. ``Based on Mr. Severin's claim that Muslim citizens are a `fifth column' in this country and his apparent belief that they should be killed, we renew our call for his termination.''

He also plans to ask for a Federal Communications Commission probe of Severin's remarks.

WTKK management repeated its support for Severin yesterday,saying it accepts his explanation, supports his right to express his opinion and will not take action against him.

Sounds like he was joking, trying to represent a view he himself did not believe in, or did not actually mean to say that "all Muslims" should be killed. In any case, it was stupid of him.

It is at least arguable that "Muslim" is now roughly synonymous with "terrorist".

CAIR has no interest in promoting fair play or justice. They are here in the US to subvert our freedom and way of life. They are completely untrustworthy.

I hope they keep Mr. Severin on the air. I also hope Mr. Severin learns his lesson to think first and speak second.

What was wrong with his comment? These people have a penchant for murder and pre-empting their plans to murder us only makes sense.

Maybe it was a joke - maybe it was self-preservation. I don't trust ANY Muslim anymore.

I think they should first be required to prove that they are not a "fifth column". I think that is exactly what they are.

Having heard the guy a few times while passing through the area, he seems to be reasonably bright, somewhat of a libertarian and someone who definitely gets carried away with the sound of his own voice. The "sex, drugs and rock and roll" part of his schtick was a little too pubescent for my taste, though.

These American Muslims have been more vociferous over brief incidents like this, yet they have yet to condemn OBL and Al-Qaeda for what they did to this nation on 9/11.

The Muslims, especially those in that group CAIR, have not garnered any sympathy from me, nor will they in the foreseeable future.

The Boston Globe issued a retraction for what they called a "reporting error" concerning what Jay Severin said. CAIR are offended, because Jay is exposing them as the Fifth Column that they are.

My brother-in-law is a retired NJ Detective. On 9-11-2001, he and other police retirees were "re-activated" to provide cover for all the NJ police who were sent to New York to assist with the disaster there.

He was sent to Patterson and Newark to help contain the celebrating and rioting there in the Arab communities.

They were dancing in the streets and cheering.

Just like the Palestinians and Saddamites.

The riotous celebrations got little or no press play.

But my brother-in-law was there and saw it.

It was all he could do to maintain his professionalism.

If the Muslims are not a fifth column here, they're going to have to prove it, because their actions so far indicate that they are.
