What country is this? Joseph Farah on Kerry's wife funding website denigrating hero Tillman
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | Wednesday, April 28, 2004 | Joseph Farah

Posted on 04/28/2004 12:23:54 AM PDT by JohnHuang2

I thought I had seen it all in my nearly 50 years on this planet.

As someone who came of age in the 1960s, I was certain I had seen the depths of anti-American depravity.

After 25 years in the news business – some of it covering Hollywood – I was sure nothing could surprise me when it came to bad taste, amorality and shocking vulgarity.

I was wrong.

What I saw on the Portland, Ore., branch of the Independent Media Center this week is something I never thought I would see in this country.

That's where the memory of American hero Pat Tillman – the professional football player who gave up a $3.6 million sports contract to volunteer for military service in Iraq and Afghanistan and who lost his life last week – was cruelly attacked.

The anti-globalist website posted a story on the ex-NFL player who became an Army Ranger, Pat Tillman, with the title, "Dumb Jock Killed in Afghanistan."

The Portland, Ore., branch of the Independent Media Center ran the headline above a story by the Washington Post about Tillman's death last week in a firefight with militia forces in Afghanistan.

The former Arizona Cardinals defensive back's head coach, Dave McGinnis, said after hearing of his death, "Pat knew his purpose in life. He proudly walked away from a career in football to a greater calling, which was to protect and defend our country. Pat represents those who have and will make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom."

Pat Tillman joined the Army after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on this country by terrorists.

The Portland Independent Media Center website was filled with comments affirming the "Dumb Jock" headline.

One suggested an alternative headline, " ... or, how about, 'privileged millionaire, blinded by nationalist mythology, p------ away the good life.'"

Another suggested headline was: "'Citizen of empire allows ignorance to cause him to die for imperialism' or maybe ... 'Capitalist chooses to kill innocents instead of cashing check.'"

One reader who was identified as "George W." wrote, "Thanks for the laugh."

Commenting on the article's reference to a "brave American," a reader replied: "'brave'???? for going over to Afghanistan completely uninvited and slaughtering brown-skinned people with advanced weaponry?"

Another said: "Tillman chose to go to Afghanistan. He's partially reponsible [sic] for the deaths of hundreds, maybe thousands of Afghan civilians. No need to feel sorry for him, other than feeling bad that he was brainwashed into serving as a grunt."

Maybe you say these are just a bunch of nobodies who created a little website. That may be true. But these nobodies at the Independent Media Center get support – directly and indirectly – from Teresa Heinz Kerry's nonprofit Tides Center. She could be the next first lady of the United States.

The Tides Center, a spinoff of the Tides Foundation, also funds an ostensibly independent group of relatives of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, "Peaceful Tomorrows," which recently expressed outrage over campaign ads by President Bush.

The group also has given grants totaling $489,000 to the Iraq Peace Fund, which used the money to fund anti-war marches and groups such as MoveOn.org, which aims to defeat Bush in November.

The center reportedly gave $200,000 to The Ruckus Society, which trains anti-globalist activists and was responsible for destroying property in the World Trade Organization riots in Seattle in 1999.

The Independent Media Center said it was formed as an outgrowth of the violent Seattle protests.

My colleague Michael Savage characterizes such un-American, unfeeling, non-human vermin as "The Enemy Within." Never has a characterization been more fitting and appropriate.

In many ways, this Fifth Column of evil know-nothings could prove to be the most menacing of internal adversaries America has ever faced.

Yet Joe cannot bring himself to support Bush for re-election. Sorry Joe but you ring a bit hollow.

It was not Kerry who sent Tillman and hundreds of other good American troops to die. Neither can we now know whether or not Bush's reasons for doins so are necessary and valid, or will be viewed in the future as criminal; history will judge that, and you do not know what that verdict will be, and I do not, and neither does Joe Farah.

But Farah is in the business where he may have to guess. And that means he has to, HAS TO, consider the possibility that Bush's motivations are the worst and most base possible, as well as the most patriotic and dutiful.

I promise you this: if Joe Farah does endorse or approve of Bush's political candidacy, he won't do so lightly, no more than I think the deaths of Tillman, or Coast Guard Petty Officer Nathan Bruckenthal, or Navy petty officer Christopher Watts, or 19-year-old Pfc. Rachel Bosveld, the Wisconsin-based MP killed by the RPG that hit her Humvee two weeks short of her 20th birthday are taken lightly by the man who ordered them to the places where they died.

Someone can ask him, but with Kerry's rambling incoherence, in response to ANY question, don't expect to understand his answer!

i would dare to say that anyone who votes for Bush does so out of 'fear of kerry' (which is valid), but not out of righteous principles.

NONSENSE! My vote for Bush this November will most definitely be "out of righteous principles," as you so vainly put it. If you don't see the fight against terrorism as a "righteous principle," then maybe you should have your principles appraised. They may just be aluminum when you think they're platinum.

They were drafted?

They gave their word. And they kept it, even though it killed them.

That's a good deal more than some people would do, whether by choice or under duress, and either way, I think we owe it to them to make certain that their loss is neither wasted nor used for profit.

Why don't we just give Mrs. Kerry, unmarked and unidentified, to the iraqis for a while. Just shove her out there and she could see for herself how it goes.

RDB, I didn't say that the war on terror was not a good cause. But when you have wide open borders (and it's been proven that terrorists have snuck across the mexico border.. at least one has been caught and arrested in Michigan last year, as reported by FOX news). do you think thats the only one who got across????!! Sure he talks a good game, but in fact the president has put us in DANGER TO TERRORISTS by ignoring his DUTY and undermining our immigration laws.

Just like his brother panders to cedillo and the illegals by promising drivers' licenses to them in FLA. give me a freakin BREAK! If you like that type NONSENSE then maybe you should re-appraise YOUR 'conservative credentials', not me!

Go to http://www.americanpatrol.com and read what happens every day to our republic. a thousand a day. a huge spike in illegals swarming here since Bush made his amnesty proposal. what utter garbage.

Also, do you all like diane feinstein?? Or do you just support her pinko gun bans, which BUSH has promised to EXTEND in september? oh, pesky 2nd ammendment issues who cares about that 'nonsense', right? go to http://www.keepandbeararms.com after visiting american patrol. learn the truth about gun grabber Jorge Bush.

Oh, and what about the law of the sea treaty? no one commented on that. Do you people lick the boots of the United nations? you think it's 'OKAY' to turn over control and authority of all waterways on earth to that filthy, America-hating org??? what about FTAA, 'Free trade agreement of the 'AmericaS', which is NAFTA on steroids.
And what abut UNESCO which is nothing but a marxist propaganda machine , a 'global NEA'.
read about the origins of this group UNESCO.
Reagan called it a blatantly corrupt anti-American organization, and withdrew from it.

So while i understand your disdain for pinko Kerry... i am not the least interested in that jerk. i am not going to outline kerry's faults, since we all know exactly what kerry is. does that mean Bush is a faultless hero that we somehow, must 'adore'?

HARDLY!!!!!!!

i am a conservative, but not a blind, mesmerized republican party loyalist.

if people don't speak up, and if they just accept Bush's liberalism, they are conceding that true conservatives dont have any voice.

I hope not. But, even if he does sink, I hope he stays in there until November, by resisting attempts by Clinton and The Punk to tell him to step aside.

Many conservatives aren't voting for Bush, and for very good, valid reasons.

Their reason is because they want Kerry or else they wouldn't throw away their vote like fools.
