NOW it's Vietnam!

I'm afraid you're right. The moment the White House starts calling the shots in any military engagement, we have lost not only the battle, but the war.

This will only embolden terrorists in other cities to start acting up by terrorizing the locals and picking off our soldier's by two's and three's.

This is an absolutely idiotic mistake that should not have been repeated after seeing how it annihilated the U.S. military under LBJ.

Well, NOW I know why 'lunatic' is in your screenname.

Give me a BREAK! Which fringe are you on anyway? Right or LEFT?

"NOW it's Vietnam."

I'm afraid so. That's the thought that immediately crossed my mind when I saw the headline on Drudge.

My second thought was: "If we are not out to win, why bother? So the Europeans will like us? So the muslims will like us? Why kill one American when the plan is not to win but to make friends?

I will keep repeating what I have been thinking lately, At least Bush is not Bill Clinton. That's something.

No it is Iraq. But this decision is a big mistake. Politics and military don't mix. Roosevelt didn't second guess Ike on D-day.

If this was Vietnam, wouldn't we have to destroy the city in order to save it?

"NOW it's Vietnam!"

Agreed. The Dubya White House micromanagement of Iraq not unlike the LBJ White House micromanagement of Vietnam.

Not Viet Nam. Its possible we don't need an all out assault to get the insurgents.
