Milt Rosenburg on now. I was watching Hildebeast on THE KING tonight, so didn't have WGN on till I saw this thread.

"The real world doesn't intrude when I am on the net (until the tornado hits)!"
This was a good example of a tornado outbreak that was not well forecast or communicated by the media. That's why it's a good idea to get a NOAA Weather Radio at Radio Shack. Make sure to get a model that has the SAME (Specific Area Message Encoding) feature. This will filter out alerts for counties where you do not live.
I was aware of it just because I am a weather nut! Been a Skywarn Spotter/Ham Radio Guy/Storm Chaser for the last ten years.

Not much except rain here on The Emerald Isle.

WMMB Newsradio 780 is kicking WGN 720's butt during this event. Tommy Skilling must be having an embolism right now. Has he been on WGN TV at all tonight? I'm here in Milwaukee and don't get WGN TV. (Too cheap for cable!)

The weather in this country seems strange this year. When I was in Boston a few weeks ago (second week of March), it was snowing. Yesterday, it was eighty five degrees for the Boston Marathon.
Best of luck to all of you in the Illinois area.

WGN showing footage out of Joliet. No injuries. Damage, downed trees etc about a mile wide. Walgreens roof blown off?
Said they had about 30 minutes warning because of prior touchdown in Kendall county.

"I'm in Florida right now. I have lots of family in the DG and Naperville environs. Looks like these areas lucked out."
I used to live in Wheaton and have a sister-in-law now in Naperville. Looks like both areas escaped major damage.

Eh, it wasn't the media.
SPC didn't even have Northern Illinois in a "slight risk" area late this afternoon.
It's amazingly difficult to predict severe. There was a "Particularly Dangerous Situation" tornado box from SPC a few days ago that didn't produce a tornado.
