Supporting our Troops
17 APR 04

Posted on 04/18/2004 10:03:49 PM PDT by BulletBobCo

My sister in Southern California emailed this to me tonight. Her oldest son, Jeff, joined the Marines in October 2002. He was in Iraq last April and is going back very soon. I thought that if she wanted me to see this, then my Freeper family would like to see this as well. Whether or not there is really a 1stSgt Dave Jobe, the message is just as important.

SLEEP LAST NIGHT?

Bed a little lumpy...

Toss and turn any...

Wish the heat was higher...

Maybe the a/c wasn't on...

Had to go to the john...

Need a drink of water...

?

?

?

Yes...

It is like that!

Count your blessings, pray for them,

Talk to your Creator

and

the next time

when...

the other car cuts you off and you must hit the brakes,

or

you have to park a little further from Wal-Mart than you want to be,

or

you're served slightly warm food at the restaurant,

or

you're sitting and cursing the traffic in front of you,

or

the shower runs out of hot water,

Think of them...

Protecting your freedom!

PLEASE PASS ON-Message from Iraq

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute to our fallen comrades.
So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is by taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel.
It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen.
I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country."

The attached photo was forwarded from one of the last U.S. Marine companies in Iraq. They would like to have it passed to as many people as possible, to let the folks back home know that they remember why they're there and that they remember those who've been lost.

Thank you, BulletBobCo.

Here's another link you might want to share with your sister,
and your courageous Marine nephew, Jeff -- joint good guys in Iraq.

Thank you, Jeff!

Excellent reminder of what these people are going through for our freedom.

Thanks for the ping, RC!

(I find myself envious of those who have the luxury of getting annoyed about being cut off in traffic, getting less than perfect food at a restaurant, etc. May I never take anything in the U.S. for granted again!)

Origins:   This is a real picture, taken in Iraq on 9 September 2003 by the Baker Company, with the 7th Marines, 1st Battalion, to honor the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S. According to the Rock Hill, South Carolina, Herald:
Helmets atop rifles honored the day so many died. Four U.S. Marines in Iraq held Old Glory a few feet off the desert sand. Dozens of others stood around them, spelling out a special message. The unit assembled Tuesday in a formation of husbands and sons and helmets and weapons that spelled out, "9-11: We Remember."

Andrew Schoenmaker, 25, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and an executive officer of Baker Company, with the 7th Marines, 1st Battalion.

Lt. Schoenmaker and his commanding officer bandied about the idea for a picture to send home to the United States signifying that the unit is still in Iraq, but the pose ended up honoring the Sept. 11, 2001, victims.

"It is in remembrance of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, and the reason that no matter how long we are here, we will continue to push and never forget why we serve," Andrew wrote in an e-mail to his father.

911 Tribute from Marines (Baker Company) in Iraq (my title)

I found this touching 911 tribute from our troops
(Marine Infantry Battalion - Baker Company)
serving in Iraq from the Cool Our Troops program
website (www.coolourtroops.com).

The program aims to raise money to be able to
buy these portable mist pumps and send them on to
Iraq to help with cooling off in the desert heat.
Seems like a good cause to donate to for those
looking for a way to help our troops.

Here's the picture and the email from 1stSgt Dave Jobe to the program organizers:

"How are you all doing? The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute to our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is by taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. And, thanks to Hyacinth Bucket, from http://www.hannity.com/story.php?content=/support_photo_exhibit#exhibits/:
911 We Remember tribute from Iraq

We have posted below a very touching, patriotic tribute in honor those that gave the ultimate sacrafice on September 11 sent by Baker Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, who are currently stationed in Iraq. We also have posted the corresponding letter by one of its members explaining this fantastic and amazing tribute.

We would like to thank all 160 members of Baker Company and their families for this great honor. Your tribute has touched our hearts and your sentiment is equally shared. We could never thank you enough for all you do for this country and for our freedoms. You make us all very, very proud! God Blesses all of us in America with all of you! From http://www.coolourtroops.com/about/main.htm:

WHO WE ARE: Operation: Cool Our Troops was started July 2, 2003. Cool Our Troops is a non-profit effort to 'Cool' our troops in Iraq.

We raised funds to send personal misters to military personnel serving in Iraq.

The misters are portable, no batteries or electricity required, and rely on evaporation to cool surrounding temperatures by 20-30 degrees.

Learn more about misters...

Glad to see that this is the real deal. My nephew is a heavy machine gunner. He told his mother in so many words that when he returns to Iraq, that he is giving the enemy no quarter. This time around he says that his biggest worry is not for himself, but for the troop he will now be supervising.
