Go here: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/ and report it towards the bottom.

I have often wondered what will happen to Paducah if the New Madrid kicks loose big-time. With those two big lakes to its woutheast and the river valley it occupies, I would think that it stands to pass from memory if there is any sort of failure at either dam.

Local Sheriff is saying 911 has received dozens of calls about their houses shaking and a loud booming noise.

Well, that area is wired well enough that if it was a quake it would have shown up immediately on a USGS site.

Possibilities are a sonic boom from something, or, a fireball meteor detonating. See a flash in the sky or anything?

I'm in west Kentucky and didn't feel anything... and it's not on the earthquake map yet and it's usually pretty fast.

What counties? I'm in Union.

Agreed, probably a sonic boom, they can shake houses for miles.

Reports are from Ballard County...McCracken County...seem to be getting all the calls.

Massac not sure across the river...

Yes they usually show up pretty fast on that site.

I have not heard about a fireball...I will check on that as a possibility.

Still watching the wire...

Believe it was shallow...

If it was a quake...we will see here soon

They say New Madrid was an 8.0 - felt a thousand miles away in Boston. It's going to be interesting if/when it breaks loose.

I'd actually never heard one till I was fishing on a partyboat offshore of Maryland; got buzzed by an F-15 at VERY low altitude and he was supersonic.

I really never expected one to be THAT loud. It was behind me and I didn't know what it was till I turned around, almost crapped my pants and almost lost my rod in the water.

LOL... they can shake your teeth and scare you pretty bad because the plane is already gone when you hear it.

This guy was REALLY close; by the time I turned around he was still nearby; I doubt many civilians have heard a boom that close. Honestly he wasn't higher than 500 feet above the water either.
