I'd actually never heard one till I was fishing on a partyboat offshore of Maryland; got buzzed by an F-15 at VERY low altitude and he was supersonic.

I really never expected one to be THAT loud. It was behind me and I didn't know what it was till I turned around, almost crapped my pants and almost lost my rod in the water.

LOL... they can shake your teeth and scare you pretty bad because the plane is already gone when you hear it.

There was a young pilot that went subsonic over Georgia a couple of years ago. Thousands statewide heard the sonic boom, and it made the news.

The pilot got in big trouble.
