Messieur apologist for the French: Before you start personal attacks against those who are much more astutely aware of French assistance in this conflict read the blurbs from the the Centcom pages:

For France- There are more than 4,200 French military personnel currently operating in the CENTCOM AOR.
For Italy- Italian commitment in Operation Enduring Freedom has been firm and resolute since the beginning. Italy has joined the Coalition on the 18th October 2001 and it has provided naval, air and ground assets. 12.5% of the colaitionforce!

Big difference! France's inexcusable stance against supporting America reflects an enormous grudge against us for liberating their country in WWII.

So you think on that!

Thank you for your posting ila! It's wonderful to read a reflection from this hero's "patria".

Your English is excellent and believe me everyone understands and honors the sacrifice of your nation's hero Fabrizio. (see my posting on a historical reference #9)

Al-Jazeera also said it had video footage of Mr Quattrocchi's death, but would not broadcast it, because it was "too gruesome".

Remember that one of the left's best propaganda weapons after the Vietnam war was the picture of an NV being executed by a shot to the head. They certainly didn't want such a picture to be a lasting testament to the Iraqi terrorists.

But here is the rub. What "rescue" team for God's sake? It's a real war over there. Since we do not in fact know the circumstances, I could posit that this man, by spoiling his captors photo shoot of the execution of four slaves who value their lives more than their evil culture and society, saved the lives of the other three as surely as if he had laid on a grenade.

Gl'Italiani. La cosa che piu si osserva in tutti loro e quell'entusiasmo che hanno della vita. Esprimono senza restrizione le loro emozioni di gioia, di dolore, d'odio e d'amore. Molto bene, Senor Fabrizio

Italians. The thing one notices in all of them is the enthusiasm they have for life. They express without restraint their emotions of joy, of grief, of hate and of love. Very good, Mr. Fabrizio, RIP

This reminds me of the courage and honor of the Italian garrison on Cephalonia during WW2.

After their government surrendered to the Allies in Sept. 1943, the approximately 6,000 Italian troops realized that the Germans were going to cart them off to POW camps, so they closed ranks and held off vastly superior German forces for several days before running out of ammunition. About 4700 Italians survived the battle, but the Germans herded them into open fields and brutally machinegunned them, leaving only a handful of survivors to be smuggled off the island by the local resistance groups.

The Nicholas Cage movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin gives a fairly accurate portrayal of these events during its final forty minutes and is dedicated to the memory of the Italian soldiers massacred on Cephalonia.

If you read my post 73, he may also have cost the lives of his friends as well. That has yet to play out. And as to what rescue team, you can bet your bottom dollar that every resource is being expended to find these perps, and a SEAL or Delta team visit under these circumstances is not out of the question.

Tha hard part is getting enough intel on the ground to locate. But if they get a snif at where these guys are holding their hostages, there will be a few more dead terrorist in short order.

Iberian - what has happened to Spaniards? Spain, a country I love the most after the United States, used to produce men like this Italian. I hope and pray that there are still Spaniards like the ones of old.And I think there are. VIVA ESPANA, VIVA ITALIA!

I'm from an Italian family, from New York. I've also visited Italy many times...mostly Sicily. I think I know how the Italians are thinking right now.

Mr Jihad...meet Mr. Vendetta.

As for this brave, iron-willed man, I posted this on another thread, but it IS appropriate...

The Valkyrior are singing with joy this night...they have another brave, true-hearted Warrior to love forever.

AND he's Italian...

'Remember that one of the left's best propaganda weapons after the Vietnam war was the picture of an NV being executed by a shot to the head. They certainly didn't want such a picture to be a lasting testament to the Iraqi terrorists.' He was VC, and he had just killed members of the family of the guy who shot him. Good pic though, but I agree with those who say this act of defiance would make the Pisslamics look bad, thats why AlJizzera didn't show it.

As a member of those Coalition forces the service provided by the French Air Force in intelligence and recce was exceptional during ops in Afghanistan. Individuals like yourself sadden me. Pleasure yourself by pouring another bottle of French wine down the kitchen sink.

Ave atque Vale Fabian of the Four eyes. God be with you on your journey. May our enemies suffer because of your courage.

this is an email I received from the Italian embassy in response to one I sent.

Thank you for your heartfelt message. We are truly touched by your compassionate words of condolences. Rest assured that the family of Fabrizio Quattrocchi as well as the people of Italy deeply appreciate your moral support and sympathy.

Sincerely,

Embassy of Italy

Don't need to flush anything down the toilet. I'll drink an Italian Chianti or Barbaresco any time over any French has been.

BTW-my heartfelt gratitude to you for your service to our nation. I personally have no argument with the many(?) fine Frenchmen who serve and serve well. Charles Martel is certainly one of my historic heroes.

However, the French government has behaved horribly many times in the past and most recently when it refused to support my nation, a nation whose young men died to rescue.

Unitl the French reform, I have a fine and wide selection of wines and cheeses that originate in nations that support mine.
