I wonder what the terrs would think of a Forest Service fire-fighting plane with its tanks full of pig blood instead of water, dumping its load all over their position?

Did you know that Kirtland is on the base closure list for the next round of closures?

So is Cannon.

Gretchen, it remains to be seen exactly what composition the turnover will leave as far as governance goes. I see us supporting a fledgling government making decisions regarding local community affairs, with the US providing protection and continuing to make the military decisions.

In this manner the local leaders get their sea legs, and as time goes by we withdraw as Iraqi armed forces become capable of taking over national self defense.

I understand your concern and share it. So far I've been pretty happy with the way we have conducted the war, so I'll sit back (like I could do anything else anyway) and hopt for the best.

Ghostriders are sure earning their pay this week. I'm just wondering if "Son Of Spectre" is being used there. The AC-130 with the COIL laser on it. It'd pucker me up pretty bad if the guy next to me starting melting and then popped like an ant under a magnifying glass.

Do ya think they will ever try and make an upgraded version of the AC-130 on the C-17 airframe Additional fuel capacity, weapons and increased time on target ?

Just wondering......Wishing you an Easy Easter...Stay safe !

Have a happy Easter back at ya.

Low and slow is the best platform for CAS. Of course that's what makes them vulnerable too. C-17 jet is too fast I would think. I'm curious how they operate with that COIL laser. Low orbits or what.

Hey, you still got a TS? Can you take a peek? 8^)

Yep and Nope.......need to know thang keeps me from that data !

Yeah I guess the C-17 is too fast. Sure would be cool. I did see a CV-44 version of the CV-22 decked out in Gunship mode in a drawing once. Kewl version if it can stay in the air !

Stay safe !

It's a time-lapse shot of an AC-130 pouring fire onto an objective. The cone shape is due to the aircraft orbiting the area so as to keep its weapons oriented toward the enemy position.

LOL! :-)

Good caption - I think having one of these mh53j choppers suddenly pop up in front of you would scare the ^%(* out of anyone - plus they appear to be able to do some damage on their own. Not like the spectre of course, but still, the picture of that looking down one's throat is pretty scary.

(Disclaimer: I don't know military hardware; just like cool pics.)

Have you read Robin Moore's "The Hunt for Bin Laden"?

If not, you have GOT to read it. It's an entire book that mirrors your post.
