[history]
Sen. Robert Byrd, the longstanding Democrat from West Virginia, cast his 17,000th vote in the chamber last week. Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) saw fit to mark the occasion with a rousing tribute in which he proclaimed, "There is no one I admire more. There is no one to whom I listen more closely and carefully when he speaks on any subject matter than Sen. Byrd."
For obvious reasons, Dodd neglected to mention that Byrd is a former Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan. Nor did Dodd dwell on the fact that Byrd voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 or that Byrd broadcast his racial insensitivity by using the N-word during a 2001 appearance on Fox News.
Instead, Dodd simply praised the former Klansman from West Virginia as a gifted legislator and a stout defender of the Constitution.

Just another perfect illustration of the double-dealing, phony, misleading, lying left-wing media. They're pathetic (and drinking buddy of Senator Bloat (D-MA) Dodd is Senator Evil).

The problem is that the mainstream media will ignore it.
It's up to Rush Limbaugh, Savage, Hannity, O'Reilly and FOXNEWS to beat this to death. It would have to mean some more undecided for any liberals on the fence that don't want to "drink the Koolade".

It wasn't the Democrats who were outraged by Lott's similar comment.
It was hypocritical, opportunistic conservatives who saw a chance to replace a RINO with a closet RINO.

As was pointed out on Rush Limbaugh's show today, it is especially outrageous because Dodd was in there pitching for Lott to be punished for his remarks.

I would like to see a complete transcript of what he actually said, not split up bt editorializing about what happened to Lott.

So which Republicans stood up on the Senate floor and called him on it?
Hunh?
Which Republicans stood up and said "I object to the decoration of an unapologetic Klansman"?
I'm waiting...

That's all well and good.
But they should all keep hammering on it until the mainstream press has no choice but to address it.
This is just another example of the weakness of the Conservative GOP platform.
This will die just like Kerry's mistress saga going off to Africa....or the questions about his war medals proportionate to his injuries and scars from same.

While I do concur with your later comments, the fact is the democrats were driving this story with their media henchmen. In fact, Dodd was one of the very Democrats who publicly condemned Lott's statment, as he almost want as far as calling for censure.

The Republicans in the Senate, need one 800 pound
gorilla, with balls. I'm ashamed, most are ice cream
licking wimps.
