US marines pressing an offensive in this Iraqi town west of Baghdad bombed a mosque in the center of the town Wednesday and killed up to 40 insurgents inside, a marine officer said.
The attack came from a jet aircraft at a high angle to minimize the impact, the officer said.
"We wanted to kill the people inside," said Lieutenant Colonel Brennan Byrne.

"Any bets on how long before Kennedy, Kerry, and France condemn this action."
The instant they do then remind them of WACO, that place was a "supposed" house of worship!

Don't forget the HUGH Buddha statue that Al-Quaid blew up.Good point. Several of them, IIRC.

Just watch, the press will make an issue of destroying a mosque instead of an enemy assembly area where they were armed and preparing attacks...never heard much from the press on all the churches destroyed by the moslems in Kosovo.

They weren't worshippers. We should string them up and put them on display - but I know we're not allowed to. I say, do it anyway and everyone act innocent about it.

I hope we simply say it is unfortunate that mosques are used to hide in and attack our troops and we regret that we had to bomb it to kill the attackers. Is that PC enough?

That one usually has only women in it. The larger Al Aqsa one next door has the men. Nevertheless a target rich environment.

About time. 13 years overdue.
Yes, I also agree that if Christians start terrorizing and blowing up their neighbors, and shooting them in the head as they sleep, then hide in a church armed to the teeth, we must also bomb that church.
Unless, of course, they hijack the church as in the Church of the Nativity, in which case the five nearest mosques must be commandered and used to negotiate with.

I trust our government to decide which one to start with. I wasn't kidding when I said I'd bomb them if they were engaged in terrorist activity. I'd blow them to hell man.

FALLUJA, Iraq, April 7 (Reuters) - The office of a religious organisation in the grounds of a mosque in the Iraqi city of Falluja was hit by a rocket on Wednesday during heavy fighting between U.S. troops and guerrillas, witnesses said.
They said the office of the Association of Muslim Clerics had been hit and there were a number of casualties. The U.S. military said it was investigating reports that its forces had hit a mosque during the fighting.

"Mosque hit by bomb, as many as 40 worshippers killed. "
Using a term like "worshippers" is leftist doublespeak. They were militants, firing at our troops. Those same troops who are their granting that POS a chance to speak after Saddam Killed his daddy.
