[history]
A man in Granite Falls, Wash., who slept with a pistol beneath his pillow woke up one morning last week to find the gun had gone off and shot him.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Saturday that the man, who was not identified, went to bed Thursday night with a loaded .22-caliber revolved tucked under his pistol. Sometime during the night, the gun discharged and shot him in the chest, but he apparently didn't realize he was wounded until he awoke early Friday.

Let's not forget that the round our beloved M16 fires is little more than a "hopped up" .22.

She's not your typical Lab. She's little (45 pounds), very alert, and quick as lightning. Her bark isn't very deep (she's clearly a soprano!) but her growl comes from somewhere down deep in her innards and is a scarey noise. (But she only growls at her tug toy and the UPS man.)
She won the first leg of her Agility Dog title on Saturday. < /brag >

I didn't think anyone can survive a .45 head shot; I thought even at the max range the guy would have had a shallow wound.

I hate to be picky, but the Instructor in me is just screaming silently....it's NOT a clip, it's a magazine but we'll accept "mag" for short.

Pretty pup! Congrats! My girl is just a little over two and is recovering from ACL surgery on her left leg. Got any pics of the Sig P245?

The guy is lucky he didn't put his eye out What makes you sure he didn't? He probably just hasn't noticed that yet.
To: ExSoldier
Sorry Ex--I'm married to an ex-soldier and he instructed me how to use the gun, but I'm not very technical. It isn't language I use often. I guess I will have to get an extra mag, okay?
I do understand your frustration, as I'm an ex-English teacher. Sometimes bad usage just screams at me. I'm old enough, now, that I am able to ignore it most of the time.

I was thinking that if he had put a round through that pillow with my Sig 226 he wouldn't have had to worry about intruders..........or anything else.
To: dogbrain
The good thing about sleeping with a pistol under your pillow is that the least of your worries is that someone may come in from outside and shoot you. (Trying to think of a reason he slept this way)

Shelley the Wonder Dog turned 3 on March 1.
I don't have any pix of the Sig . . . nobody ever seems to have a camera handy at the range . . . everybody's too busy shooting and nobody wants to give up their spot on the line. :-D
Got any pix of your Newfie? When Shelley was a tiny pup and boarded at her trainer's, she was very obnoxious (she had been boss pup in a litter of 9) and when the bigger dogs started snarling at her for picking at them, she would run to the big Newfie and station herself under her belly where she was concealed by her long hair. (She could pick at the Newfie all she wanted. That dog didn't care, Shelley was like a small fly.)

Got tons of newfie pics. Just don't have a digital camera. That teacher thing...low pay, etc. Someday, I'll get some pics put on a disc and then I'll be set.

That reminds me of the joke ....
"A three legged dog limps into a saloon in the Old West. He slides up to the bar orders a whiskey and announces "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw!!"

Our printer died and our little photocopier was "on the verge," so my husband got a new printer-fax-copier-scanner for Christmas - the bare bones HPs are surprisingly inexpensive, and you can scan your ordinary pix right into the "my pictures" file and upload them. Works quite well.
The Wolf/Ritz Camera people have a very reasonable price for a disk when you have the film developed (before the negatives are cut). Problem is, you don't know how the pictures turned out until too late!
