FOLLOWERS of the radical Iraqi Shiite leader Moqtada Sadr took over the governor's office in the British-controlled port city of Basra today. Dozens of armed Mehdi Army militiamen stormed the governor's office in the southern city at dawn, raising a green flag on the roof of the building, he said.
Mehdi Army militiamen were seen deployed inside and on the rooftop of the governor's office alongside policemen who had been inside the building when it was overtaken.
Four hours later there were no British troops in the area.
On Sunday, Sadr supporters seized a number of police stations and other public buildings in several Iraqi cities, including a major suburb of Baghdad, during a day of violent clashes.
The violence against US-led coalition troops left at least 24 Iraqis and up to nine coalition soldiers dead.

Guantanamo. Orange jumpsuit, blindfolded, and tied into the back of a dusty C-130. He needs to be eating Fruit Loops.

If in fact OBL is sending Mehdi abroad into the world? It means he, and his organization, are hitting last gasps. Mehdi equates to OBL's secret, personal "agents".

Martyr, martyr, martyr...I'm so sick of hearing this stupid argument.
If you "don't make them a martyr" people get their way we'd all be dead.
The Nazis used the concept of "martyrs" to gain power. People that are inticed by "martyrs" don't need many excuses to be idiots and killers. And people the appease because of fear of creating "martyrs" are morons.

Just look at this:
"Garawi spoke under the swaying lanterns of the main Kufa mosque, where militiamen cradling AK-47s squatted on thin woven mats and a plainclothes policeman strode about smiling, an American-issued Glock 9mm pistol on his hip. Much of Kufa's American-trained police force joined the side of the Sadr forces when the firefight started in late morning. By 2 p.m., the police checkpoint at the edge of town was manned by militiamen. White-shirted traffic police remained on duty but said the Mahdi Army was in charge."

Can't kill him he'll be a martyr They have to surround the places that have been taken and then give a 60 minute ultimatum to Sadr to surrender those places then send in the bombers. We'll see who wants to be Martyrs

Unbelievable.

And you might check this out:
http://www.kr-hcy.com/articles/imam-mehdi.shtml - for the "prophecies" of Mehdi:
"An army will come from the East towards Arabia. The East here refers to Khurasan, (Afghanistan). They will pave the way for the establishment of Imam Mahdi's kingdom. This army will carry black banners. Nothing shall stop their onward march, and eventually they will plant their flag on the soils of Jerusalem."
...
The term "MEHDI" is a title meaning "Guided one". The Mehdi is a normal man who is going to follow the true Islam. His name will be Muhammad and his father name will be Abdullah. He is a descendant from Ali and Fatima (daughter of the prophet Muhammad) so he will be descendant from al-Hasan or al-Hussain or both. The Mehdi will be very just and his capital will be Damascus. The Mehdi is NOT a prophet but he is the final Rightly Guided Khalifah. The Mehdi will lead Muslims to a great victory against the Sufyaani and the Romans. This great war or Armageddon. It will end up with a great victory to Muslims against Romans after six years. Muslims will take over their capital Rome (this can be any city). In the seventh year, the Dajjal (antichrist) will appear and a greater war will start between his followers and the believers for 40 days (longer that usual days) and will end when 'Eessa ("Jesus") will come, slay the Dajjal along with his followers. All remaining people will convert into Islam. Peace will pervade the whole world.

I agree with you..but they should jump this shit early...if they bitch about water and electricity is one thing the minute they start their raghead anti american shit...0 tolerance...lock em up early, let em drink coffee out of a buglar can for a couple of years for disturbing the peace.
The whole problem is we have never controlled that country ever since we been there...we should have made them earn their freedoms...because they sure as hell didn't.

Agree. This is not a criminal matter. He's an enemy combatant engaged in hostile action.
