Yikes! I bet you WERE in trouble for a long, long time!
My sisters have stories about me too, and I'm sure they'll follow me forever! :-)

I actually had to euthanize one of my daughter's hamsters; but I had to do it stealthily because it would have broken her heart. The poor thing had cancer and open wounds and sores and tumors ALL OVER its little body.

One time when we had hamsters and my old cat was still alive, the scene was like this; hamsters in their cage, being stared at by the cat, sitting right next to the cage. Dog on the floor, staring up at the cat who was staring at the hamsters. I wish I would have gotten a picture--I would have called it, "The food chain."

Do you have a cat today? Or a hamster?

Yep, they won't let me forget that one for a long long time. I have three dogs. They are great fun.

I love cats but don't own any due to allergies. Hubby says we can't have an outdoor cat b/c they lead very hard lives.

I would like to own a parakeet again. For being tiny, they are very smart. The trick is to only own one at a time, if there are two of them, they bond to each other and ignore their human owners. There was a bird store near me once that sold "hand-raised" parakeets, but it now only sells much larger birds.

I remember once my kids won a goldfish. It had some horrible condition that made its tail and fins deteriorate. I called vets and pet stores for advice and they told me it was pretty much hopeless. Thinking it would be a good learning experience for the kids, I explained the whole thing to them and then flushed the fish down the toilet to put it out of its misery, with them watching. Both kids were crying and carrying on. It was bad! I regretted it so much. They were very upset with me. If I had that to do over, I would just flush the poor thing, get rid of its bowl, buy a new fish, new fishbowl, new gravel or whatever they call the stuff on the bottom of the fishbowl, and never tell the kids a word.

...On my ninth birthday, my parents gave her to me with a red bow around her neck...

I love your story. So good ol' mom came through after all! Here's our calico, Sadie, a few months ago:

LOL. Your cat sounds as naughty as our youngest one, who gives the older two cats no peace!

Your calico is beautiful!

Our Lucky looks like India, the Bushs' cat, except Lucky has a very long tail. She does have a lot of character. She sometimes likes to cuddle with me when I'm on the computer; trouble is she goes after my fingers and climbs on the keyboard, making it difficult to type. :-)

Her best trick I taught her in defense of my self and my clothing. She initiated jumping (with me unaware) from the floor so that I would hold her but often she'd catch her claws into me or my clothes, so I taught her to wait until I bent my left knee forward, then I'd pat my knee and she'd leap onto it, then up into my arms, after which she always rubbed the side of her face against the corner of my glasses and purred very contentedly.

It can be so hard to be a mom sometimes! I hate the "death" part of pets. Even a goldfish.

I do NOT like birds, but my grandma, many years ago, had a parakeet named Tweety and we all loved him/her. He/she would talk to us when we visited. I haven't thought about that for a long time. It's a good memory.

Why thank you! What is it about cats and computers anyway? Oh wait, probably the same thing as people and computers - addictive habit.

If we ever tried to teach our 3 any cat tricks, they'd just laugh at us, I'm sure. On the other hand, I think they've succeeded in teaching us a trick or two, usually involving FOOD.

I just heard on radio that Harry Connick has a new album out. It's called, "Only You," and has a lot of the OLD favorites. Hmmm...guess I'll take a look at Amazon and see what old favorites are on it.

OhioWfan sends this information about the Valentine boxes we sent to Eric while he was in Baghdad:

In being actually able to TALK with Eric, we found out that the Valentines box DID come in time, and the big box you sent him to give to the incoming troops was received with GREAT delight.

The soldiers who got it wanted to thank you for your generosity! (And so do I!)

So you can pass that on to the others who contributed.

What a wonderful service you are performing for our troops!

FYI: A lot of people who are allergic to dogs in general are not allergic to poodles as the hair is different.

Thought you might want to visit someone who has only poodles and see if you have problems. OTOH, some people don't count poodles as dogs....

Hi Ms.B

My cat Lucky is sitting on my lap trying to help. She thinks it's great fun to go after my fingers, making typing difficult. I sent you mail a little while ago.

Still raining there? It was chilly this AM but then got nice and sunny.

Not raining, but overcast and damp...
I have Minette here..she doesn't chase my fingers..
But she "talks" alot, and likes to rub her head right under my nose..and purr...
Makes it hard to see, and it tickles, too.
You know, when I had that knee sugery, when I got home she kissed, and bussed, my face...and the she curled up and put her little head gently on my knee...
Tell me they don't know when somethings wrong!

Just caught the cat thinking about jumping in with the baby ducks. I don't know who would be more surprised.

I'm headed for a hot bath--my muscles are getting sore from cutting down and hauling all those bushes.

I'll be back after my bath if the rest of the family isn't home. I'm going to have tired kids--they left the house before 5:30 AM. And we lose an hour of sleep tonight--don't forget to spring your clock ahead!--and up early for another show tomorrow. Sometimes I think they're a little obsessed. But they're not getting in trouble! :-)
