In the book The New Jackals by Simon Reeve, written in 1999 and updated after 9/11, the author mentions that Iraq troops were put on their highest level of military alert ever two weeks prior to 9/11. Saddam and his wives went into a bunker and didn't emerge until October.

Wonder why Bush Administration figures appearing before the 9-11 "commision" haven't pointed this out? Seems to me this would be decisive evidence linking Iraq to Al Qaeda and 9-11. On the other hand I guess it could backfire if they had clear evidence Iraq knew something would happen.
