Editor, the Tribune: Now that conceal and carry has been established, I would like to make the public aware of the possible "side effects" of this new bully law. First off, dont be surprised that if and when you get pulled over by a police officer, he or she comes in full assault fashion with gun drawn and ready to defend his or her life. Youll have a gun pointed right at you, cocked and ready to fire. Dont panic and do something stupid, because you might get shot. Obey the officer, keep your hands in sight and move slowly when he asks for your license. After all, he must assume youre armed.
Im sure many officers have pondered this situation in their daily duties. I am only assuming this might be the scenario, and I could be wrong, but better safe than sorry.
I will always be against putting more potentially dangerous weapons in the hands of our general public. Less lethal avenues should be sought if you feel you need to defend your life 24 hours a day. Theres something wrong with the inadequate mind that needs to use a gun to feel protected. Seeking help to bolster ones insecurities would be a good place to start. I know, because for 22 years, I was held hostage in my own home as my ex-husband practiced killing me day in and day out with his beloved guns. Its a disease of dependence with fear and control its drug.
No, you didn't. But her name and address are in the article. For any criminals savvy enough to read her ill conceived opinions, she just painted a target on her back and told the world she doesn't believe in lethal force.
Maybe I'll have to look into some of these statistics. I know that in this county, while there haven't been a lot of murders in my life, there have been enough to say women are the primary victims. I know of one case where a woman killed her live-in boyfriend, but about 8 cases where men killed their wife/girlfriend. Of course, we're more rural here; maybe killing your husband is more of an urban thing.
The NRA doesn't need a gun to collect its dues.

Number of spouse murder defendants and their demographic characteristics
In 1988, the justice system in the Nation's 75 largest counties disposed of an estimated 540 spouse murder cases. Husbands charged with killing their wife outnumbered wives charged with killing their husband. Of the 540, 318 (or 59%) were husband defendants and 222 (or 41%) were wife defendants.
I don't carry a gun because the police will protect me at all times.
I don't have a fire extinguisher because the fire department will put out my fires.
I have not learned CPR because emergency aid workers will revive my family and friends.
Not faulty at all!!!
;<)
Yeah, I had all the reasons explained to me in the classes, but it still doesn't make sense to me.
The logic is that if a bad guy is going to rob a grocery store and sees someone carrying, he nails him first, but if twenty people are openly carrying, he won't try to rob it in the first place.
Another argument was that if a bad guy sees someone carrying, he takes him out just because he's carrying.
No, sorry. This looks like a fabrication of excuses because that's the way the law reads.
To me, it's still not logical.
'Course, I'd much rather have concealed carry than no carry!
No fair, you carry yer gun in yer hat!!!
The newspaper article gives the woman's name and address. I assumed it was fake, so I went to Switchboard.
Switchboard gives her address, plus phone number, plus a map of the location, time required: less than one minute.
HEY! That's a darn good idea!
I ain't got much hair left up there anyway!
Sometimes I'm pretty sure I'll die of PMS.
Bullies don't like it.
if and when you get pulled over by a police officer, he or she comes in full assault fashion with gun drawn and ready to defend his or her life.
I never did after CPLS were issued. Youll have a gun pointed right at you, cocked and ready to fire.
If I did, someone's badge would be taken away real quick unless there is a damn good reason.
After all, he must assume youre armed.
Cops are supposed to assume you may be armed anyway. Crools don't have a CPL.
I could be wrong
You are wrong.
I will always be against putting more potentially dangerous weapons in the hands of our general public.
So that means cars, knives, gasoline, baseball bats, hockey sticks, bricks, stones, tire irons, crowbars, axes, and a zillion other things should be banned too....? What about my foot, fists, and hands?
Less lethal avenues should be sought if you feel you need to defend your life 24 hours a day.
As in.....? I'm waiting. Name it. Theres something wrong with the inadequate mind that needs to use a gun to feel protected.
Elitist BS. What is wrong? Specifics?
Seeking help to bolster ones insecurities would be a good place to start.
What "insecurites?" Name them.
I know, because for 22 years, I was held hostage in my own home as my ex-husband practiced killing me day in and day out with his beloved guns. Its a disease of dependence with fear and control its drug.
ASSuming this is the case, you are ASSumining that all gun owners are like your ex-husband. That means you are a bigot.
