Check the CT web site; the original article has several dozen links I didn't have time to insert.

Isn't it time to stop this practice in schools and reserve it for government jobs and the military?

Oops. There seem to be several forms of this statement:

... That's only because no atheist can get elected to public office," Newdow answered,

... That’s because no atheists can get elected to Congress,” Newdow insisted

There is something just so sad and pitiful about an Athiest:

Hoping with all your might against the existence of God.

While we are at it, why don't we reserve religion to churches and Sundays between the hours of 8 am and 1 pm only?

I can only imagine what his kid's life must be like.

Can we say, "Destined to grow up with a host of neuroses, all stemming from issues related to her parental relatioship?"

Would a Supreme Court decision that said "under God" is okay simply because it's meaningless truly be a victory?

It's a pretty fair analysis piece, once one gets past the gushing about Neudow's skills as a solicitor. And I, for one, DON'T wish to see the Court say -- in effect -- that God is meaningless in this context. If so, then the pledge is irrelevant. if so, the motto of our country ("In God We Trust") is equally irrelevant. The statement above from the article capsulated this point very well.

The only way out of this dilemma (seeing as the Court and society have chosen to use the hogwash phrase "separation of church and state" to be absolute) is for SCOTUS to rule that the 'mere existential affirmation' of God is not what makes one religious; it is the worship, prayers, praise, practices, rites, rituals, doctrine, dogma, and trappings of a group of people associated with "God" in their belief system that actually constitutes a "religion." People are free to accept this affirmation or not, but the United States Government simply acknowledges that God is a fact of life without passing judgment on any particular religion and its view of God.

The Supreme Court justices—the six of them remaining, since Antonin Scalia recused himself

Dear Christianity Today Editor

Nine minus one is equal to eight.

Imagine how the "Row V. Wade" lady feels today...knowing that generations of children were killed based on her case. (She'd almost have to have become a Christian to survive the pain!) This kid will either be the center of attention for what did happen, or what didn't happen. Start buying the therapy now, in advance, while the rates are cheaper.

The Supreme Court justices—the six of them remaining, since Antonin Scalia recused himself—may have enjoyed bantering with the newbie, but a near-unanimous consensus among observers is that he's going to lose the case.

9 - 1 = 8. Must be that new math.

why limit your practice of religion to those days and hours. Just don't do it where others send their kids to taxpayer schools. Difficult concept I guess.

You beat me to it. Next time I'll finish reading the comments, but that new math was so ludicrous I felt I must respond.

This adoring CT prose about obnoxious idiot Newdow, illustrating once again why I've never regretted cancelling my subscription years ago.

Nah -- the author understands that Scalia is worth at least three justices by himself.

"...The only way out of this dilemma..."

The only way out of this dilemma is to REMIND Michael Newdow that he is IN THE MINORITY on this matter. We, in the MAJORITY want "under God" kept right where it is. If he and the minority of like-minded types don't like, T H W T!!!!!
