So, point five, that process which was initiated in the first week in February, uh, decided in principle, uh in the spring to add to the existing Clinton strategy and to increase CIA resources, for example, for covert action, five-fold, to go after Al Qaeda. That testimony (as far as I have had time to read) is bringing tears to my eyes - Sandy Berger spinning - at the same time the WH releases this to FNC - And we get it on FR simultaneously -
WOW oh WOW oh WOW
Are they the A-Team, or what!

McClellan's a nice guy who never stole a freight train.
Not someone you want for the campaign.

I love THIS part:
ANGLE: Now the (Bush) five-fold increase for the money in covert operations against Al Qaeda did that actually go into effect when it was decided or was that a decision that happened in the next budget year or something?
CLARKE: Well, it was gonna go into effect in October (2001), which was the next budget year, so it was a month away.
QUESTION: That actually got into the intelligence budget?
CLARKE: Yes it did.
QUESTION: Just to clarify, did that come up in April or later?
CLARKE: No, it came up in April and it was approved in principle and then went through the summer. And you know, the other thing to bear in mind is the shift from the rollback strategy to the elimination strategy. When President Bush told us in March to stop swatting at flies and just solve this problem, then that was the strategic direction that changed the NSPD from one of rollback to one of elimination.
Bullseye!

Just as an aside, in the conversation that Clarke was having with the press that day, one reply was to "Andrea". I am sure that this was not Andrea Mitchell. (sarc). She surely would have reported on this converation earlier? Right.

Clinton couldn't fire missiles at OBL because it would have triggered a nuclear war?
And they couldn't have notified Pakistan and India in advance because they had to keep the attack secret?
Thanks for leading the witness, B-V.

How many more 'exposures' is Clarke's book going to get before these numbskulls throw it in the trash?
FoxNews just ran a tape of Clarke praising the Bush Admin.
Hannity had a tape of Condi discussing al-Qaeda in late 2000.
Mansoor Ijaz came close to calling Clarke's book lies.
The more these Dems refer to it as the 'bible' for terrorism, they are making themselves look pretty idiotic and foolish.

Wait till Berger hears the tape Fox just released. He just said they did all they could to work with Pakistan! Not according to Clarke!

The GOP should have anticipated that this Commission was going to be a partisan debacle. Unfortunately, there are no attack dogs for the GOP like Ben-Veniste, Roemer and Goerlich. Clarke may be discredcted, but the media won't play it that way.

I don't like the whole tone of this "commission". I think the laughter and joking around (by both sides) is sickening. This is extremely serious business and needs to be treated as such.

....and not mentioning that she has testified behind closed doors and it's totally within accepted perogative. This fact needs to be repeated by President Bush's cabinet officials to these turds. To not respond to it and let it hang out there is irresponsible. And - whoever is on tonight's shows and tomorrow's morning shows better repeat this as well. The libs who are carrying the water for the RATS on these shows need to be confronted with these facts, if they arent, they are emboldened to continue their lying and mis-representation to the American people.

even better, just in time for this afternoon but not in time for the former Clintonistas that proceeded him to avoid being caught in their own web of lies. Notice it wasn't discussed until AFTER Berger began.
To: TomGuy
Berger just said he had not read Clarke's book.
Someone in the background (on the committee) said "nobody seems to have [read it]."
If nobody has read the book, why are these committee members referring to it over and over? [rhetorica question]
