That's a pretty harsh assertion on his part. And he's getting called on it. Thompson isn't buying the answer. The 2002 press briefing will be read, likely nearly in its entirety. Thompson is not letting Clarke get away with the lies.

Well, I did notice that Sandy Berger and Richard Ben Venista were doing a mating dance this morning. So perhaps Ben Venista is a polygamist and was mating with Clarke too!

This was just released a couple hours ago. I doubt they've had time to read and verify it. To use it without understanding it could be more damaging at this point. I'll bet tonight they pour over it and hopefully they'll respond to it.

I hope you're right, but believe you're too trusting. This hearing, like so many in Washington, is nothing but a sham. As usual, the Dems are youthful-looking, vigorous, strident partisan attack dogs (as former members of the Cliton admin, Ben-Veniste and Gorelick have blatant conflicts of interest and shouldn't even be on the committee). Meanwhile, the Reps are old, tired, weak, go-along-to-get-along milquetoasts who look like they'd rather be anywhere else except in that hearing room.

As the usual Washington partisan food-fights go, this one isn't even close to being an equal playing field.
