March 23, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - John Kerry yesterday launched a new TV ad showing video of him as a young soldier in Vietnam and stressing he "fought for his country," as the Democratic nominee tries to rebound from President Bush's charges he's weak on defense. Kerry's new 30-second spot, which goes up today in 17 swing states, features video of a helmeted, rifle-toting Kerry in fatigues walking past what appears to be a thatched hut and also has a shot of Kerry being decorated with a Silver Star for his service.

Kerry was a Vietnam Vet in the USN... Big deal, so was I, contrary to his newest TV ad, that doesn't mean he is "qualified to protect America". He is a politician seeking a POLITICAL position so the key issue is this: What is Mr. Kerry's POLITICAL VOTING record on military and security matters.

Below is a compilation of Mr. Kerry's voting record regarding funding for America's weapons systems this information is a matter of public record. Based upon his record it is clear he is incapable of "Protecting America".

Mr. Kerry's VOTING RECORD:

Mr. Kerry voted to kill the Bradley Fighting Vehicle

Mr. Kerry voted to kill the M-1 Abrams Tank

Mr. Kerry voted to kill the Apache Helicopter

Mr. Kerry voted to kill every Aircraft Carrier laid down/built since 1988

Mr. Kerry voted to kill the Aegis anti aircraft weapons system

Mr. Kerry voted to Kill the F-15 Strike Eagle Fighter

Mr. Kerry voted to Kill the Block 60 F-16 Fighters

Mr. Kerry voted to Kill the P-3 Orion upgrade

Mr. Kerry voted to Kill the B-1 Bomber

Mr. Kerry voted to Kill the B-2 Stealth Bomber

Mr. Kerry voted to Kill the Patriot anti-missile system

Mr. Kerry voted to Kill the FA-18 Hornet Fighter

Mr. Kerry voted to Kill the F117 Stealth Fighter

In short, he voted to kill every military appropriation regarding the development and deployment of every weapons system since 1988. These weapons are directly responsible for keeping America safe and for our victories in Gulf War 1 and 2 as well as the war in Afghanistan.

Mr. Kerry's most recent military vote was in regard to the 87 Billion dollar supplemental appropriation bill President Bush requested in order to provide for our service personnel actively serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. This bill would have provided battle armor for our troops:

Mr. Kerry voted "NO".

Fortunately for America and our military, Mr. Kerry was on the losing side of ALL of the above votes.

It is clear, if Mr. Kerry were president, America would not be safe. It is also clear he is not qualified to "Protect America"

Along with these votes, Mr. Kerry also voted to kill all the anti terrorism activities of every agency within the U.S. Government.

He voted to CUT the funding of the FBI by 60%

He voted to CUT the funding for the CIA by 80%

He voted to CUT the funding for the NSA (National Security Agency) by 80%

These draconian CUTS to our national intelligence agencies, which Kerry voted FOR were directly responsible for the successful terrorist attacks of 9/11/01, the earlier bombing of the World Trade Center in 1994 and the successful terrorist attack on the USS Cole.

Although Senator Kerry has voted against funding our country’s military and intelligence services, he voted to INCREASE America's funding for United Nations operations by 800%!

These are the facts regarding Mr. Kerry's dismal voting record. Mr. Kerry may have served in Vietnam, but as a politician seeking the political position of President of the United States, it is crystal clear, on the basis of his own voting record, that he is not politically responsible or qualified to protect America, to fight and win the War on Terrorism or to serve as The Commander and Chief.

Hitler was a combat veteran of WWI decorated for heroism, that didn't make him a good leader.

Funny how the commercial doesn't mention the fight his group wanted to make against United States Senators in 1971.

The campaign did not say where the video was shot in Vietnam, by who or when.
I'm guessing the video is the home movie re-enactment he filmed of him shooting the wounded NVA soldier.
You're a real American Hero indeed, Ketchup Boy

Kerry's war record consisted of shooting up some villages and then confessing to war crimes in front of the US Senate.

Bush's war record consisted of liberating 50 million people from two of the most brutal regimes of recent history with a minimum loss of US life.

You choose.

TENS OF THOUSANDS of Americans, and HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF ASIANS, died.

Then came back from the war and started or joined a group that plotted to assassinate seven sitting Senators they didn't like, and lied about it. Some "hero".

A senior Bush strategist scoffed about the new ad: "There seem to be only two chapters in [Kerry's] life - Vietnam and running for president" - because Kerry's ad ignores his entire 20 years in the Senate.

Bingo!

(But, to be fair there is a third chapter. It's called, The trashing of American and the military.)

Kerry is exploiting Vietnam for political reasons.

Only certain parts of Vietnam.

As far as he's concerned, he can exploit Vietnam, but any other issues brought up about Vietnam are "ancient history"

Flip/flop!

Right! His protesting and accusing others of committing war crimes. I wonder if he has cursed out anyone this morning? Or maybe slipped down on another wet floor?
