I had reported last week that at least two major newspapers and one news magazine was working on the story of John Kerry's attendance at a VVAW meeting in Kansas City on Nov. 12-15, 1971. According to Tom Lipscomb of the NY SUN, the assassination of U.S. senators was discussed at that meeting.
One of the newspapers has spoken. It is the L.A. TIMES. John Glionna has written a Kerry-defending puff piece, FBI Shadowed Kerry During Activist Era. In 2163 words, he did not mention assassination, senators, or Scott Camil.
This was nothing but partisan crap journalism. The biggest hit on Kerry was the following:
Previously, Kerry had denied being at the Kansas City gathering. But the FBI files, along with interviews with former VVAW members, indicate that he attended at least some portion of the meetings, using the occasion to resign his post as one of the group's national coordinators.
"I still have no memory of a Kansas City meeting.
"I have this stark memory of the humidity that day [I resigned from VVAW] . I just remember forever a dark storm brewing, with these huge thunderhead clouds."
But his recollection was that he resigned at the St. Louis meeting. "And every reminder we have since then has put it there, including Nicosia's book," he said.
I am pretty sure that I would have a recollection of a meeting at which I resigned because some of my friends advocated murdering senators.
If anyone wants to phone Mr. Glionna to give him your opinion, FReepmail me.
I read the story. In 2163 words, you did not mention senators, assassination, or Scott Camil. You did not mention how he had lied about being at the Kansas City meeting. You did not mention that witnesses are currently being pressured by Kerry operatives. It was nothing but a puff piece defending Kerry. I am sorry I sent this info to the L.A. TIMES and am angry with myself. After all these years, I should have known what to expect.
"I still have no memory of a Kansas City meeting." -- I think that if I attended a meeting where Scott Camil forced the issue of voting on whether to kill U.S. senators, I would remember it. I would remember why I quit the group.
You didn't get the story and simply used it for your own political agenda.
Shame on you.

It's mid November nineteen seventy one
A major confrontation, friends, was said to have begun
Some vets had done some planning...they were getting really sore
They would move to the next level in attempts to stop the war
The FBI had been watchin' 'em in action
They're gettin' real scary...what's the next thing they would do?
In Kansas City would the plot gain traction
Would senators see pearly gates before the year was through?
A young John F. Kerry had been telling great big lies
U.S. troops pulled off mass murder, that should come as no surprise
They're killing for pleasure and were zapping testicles
Before the U.S. Congress he was spreading all that bull
The FBI had been watchin' 'em in action
They're gettin' real scary...what's the next thing they would do?
In Kansas City would the plot gain traction
Would senators see pearly gates before the year was through?
Back in Vietnam there were some men held by the Cong
They were undergoing torture...that side thought it wasn't wrong
They used John's words...and for the men it's really rough
John F. Kerry, you're a traitor...we have really had enough
The FBI had been watchin' 'em in action
They're gettin' real scary...what's the next thing they would do?
In Kansas City would the plot gain traction
Would senators see pearly gates before the year was through?
Scott Camil had been screamin' "It's time we were votin'!
Are you with or against us...we must know where you all stand"
John told them no and gave his resignation
'Cause after all, you know, that a career had been well-planned
He's hidden the record and hoped we would not find out
But Tom Lipscomb found the story...we know what John's all about
A lesson Kerry learned is now becoming evident
If you are whacking senators, you can't be president
The FBI had been watchin' 'em in action
They're gettin' real scary...what's the next thing they would do?
In Kansas City would the plot gain traction
Would senators see pearly gates before the year was through?
Scott Camil had been screamin' "It's time we were votin'!
Are you with or against us...we must know where you all stand"
John told them no and gave his resignation
'Cause after all, you know, that a career had been well-planned
....but, but NIXON is the nexus of ALL evil in America, don'tcha know. Oliver Stone said so!
I realize that : )...I was just pointing out the fact he is trying to cover his butt by saying he resigned at that 1971 meeting, suggesting that he did not condone the actions of the group, when documents prove that he clearly associated himself with the group in 1972. If we can get all these facts out, Mr. Waffle will be toast.
