Matt Reilly, also known as 'harpseal' on Free Republic, died on March 19, 2004.

His friend Eileen is making arrangements for a Memorial service at the local VA.

Matt was a former Navy SEAL, a keen businessman, a friend to his Walker Hound, and an accomplished sailor.

He was also my friend and my business partner. I can't barely see the keyboard through my tears. He will be missed greatly.

God is surrounding himself with his best warriors...

I too will miss these outstanding men...

I didn't know this ... nor should I .... I only waited for his comments and honored them ... a true and wise man, he ...

I would look for him and read, with respect ... his thoughts ... I'll miss him more than I can say.

Shoot .... I've ben away for a bit ... fighting my own devils, Laz .... not like yours, but painful, still .... I also honor you ... for we've had words ... but your sorrow and loss comes home to me and I will *pray* for you, sir.

Oh man, I'm sorry and shocked to hear that! I've enjoyed his posts over the years too. My prayers and thoughts to him, his family, you, and the rest of the Free Republic family.

I have been out of town and did not learn of this until I read the recent post about RangerAirborne's passing. I have always enjoyed Harpseal's posts, and yours too - cornerstones of FR's foundation. My heart goes out to you. Please accept my belated condolences on the loss of your friend.

I've not been around here much lately so please accept my late condolences to you and Harpseal's family and friends.

This is very sad. I always enjoyed reading harpseal's posts and loved his tag (which he used long before taglines were established here) "Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown" as one of my ancestors was at Yorktown with Washington in 1781.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I mourn with you and pray for you. Although things seem hard now, the pain will ease and you'll be able to continue. Harpseal's race is run, but yours is not finished yet. Don't quit. Run the race that he'd want you to run.
