Troop Prayer Thread 10 - A Year of VICTORY!

Posted on 03/19/2004 12:51:59 PM PST by TEXOKIE

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS, THEIR ALLIES, AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING IN SUPPORT CAPACITIES IN THE WAR ON TERROR! YOU HAVE GIVEN THIS NATION A YEAR OF VICTORY IN THAT WAR! The honor is yours, but know that we bask in your accomplishments and love you for your steadfast service on this day!

Welcome, everyone to the 10th Troop Prayer Thread! Today is the anniversary of the resumption of hostilities with Iraq, wherein our troops have made military history that shall ring down the centuries.

The troop prayer threads are dedicated to giving our troops, allies, and all who are serving the Holy Cause of Freedom, including (but not limited to) the families and loved ones waiting at home and those who are not in uniform but who are serving in dangerous situations supporting our troops and gathering intelligence spiritual support. We seek together to offer prayer, scriptures, encouraging messages, and other devotions dedicated to this purpose.

We have over the past year gathered together a prayer list of these servants of freedom. You will find it posted below. FReeper amom has been serving as our List Keeper this past year and I wish to thank and commend her for doing such a meticulous job of keeping it updated. She has also been keeping our ping list up to date. If you wish to submit a name for the prayer list or to add or take off a name from the ping list, please let either or both of us know.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, or still have phone modems, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

Thank you so much for spiritually supporting our troops, allies, support civilians, and their families.

We are grateful to God that for those who have been injured or taken back Home, He has dispatched angels to their care.

Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me remember
Somewhere out there
A man died for me today
--As long as there be war
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?"

Taken from the book, "A Man Called Intrepid" by William Stevenson about William Stephenson, the head of British intelligence services prior to and during WWII. He wrote this at the very beginnings of the Battle of Britain and shared it with Eleanor Roosevelt.

STAR SPANGELED BANNER

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Thank you for the notification, NPCW. We do join you in your prayers for this young man. Do please keep us informed of his progress.

Beloved Heavenly Father,

We place before you this fine young man known to NPCW as an Eagle Scout. We know because of his achievments in scouting that he is one of our best. It is reported to us that he has been shot while in service to the Marines and is now in Germany being treated.

Father, let your healing light enter into the body of this young hero. Mend those cells, tissues, and organs which have been affected by the damage done to them. Mobilize the mechanisms of the body which cause repairs to take place. Guide and inspire the medical, nursing and professional personnel who are caring for him. Enfold this young man with angels of healing and comfort. We call forth miracles in his behalf.

Reach into the heart, mind, and soul of this young man and heal any and all trauma done at those levels. Grant him peace of mind, joy, strength, and the courage to fight for himself as hard as he fought for his nation. Heal this man at all levels according to your blessed Will.

Surround his family and loved ones. Grant them insight, wisdom, love, and patience to know the things they need to do to support him. Help them all in meeting the challenges which face them at this time as they seek to hold vigil for their young warrior. Above all, grant them abundant Faith and Hope and the knowledge that all will be well, for you are our own Father and have all things in your hands. SHATTER all which is opposed to his life and your divine Plan and Will for his life.

We ask that all who are faced with the challenges of dealing with wounds inflicted during military service or during service in support of the military are granted the grace of perfect healing according to your Will. Let all who have been wounded or injured be granted your special guidance and an extraordinary sense of their closeness to your divine Heart forever.

Thank you, Father, for sending to us these precious young people who have placed themselves "between their loved homes and the war's desolation."* They are our greatest treasure, and we commend them all into your keeping. We invoke miracles of protection, healing, and mercy for all who Serve. Somehow convey to each of them that we are aware of the debt we owe, but which we can never truly pay. Please let them know despite that that we do not take them for granted and that we send to them the gratitude which they deserve.

Amen

BREAKING NEWS AND URGENT NEED FOR PRAYER:

http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1118977/posts

"U.S. military officials have seen video of an American soldier who was taken hostage in Iraq, ABCNEWS has learned.

A senior military official told ABCNEWS that the soldier in the video was one of two G.I.s who disappeared on April 9, during the same convoy attack in which American contract worker Thomas Hamill was taken hostage.

In the video, which the official expected to be shown on the Arabic television channel Al Jazeera, the soldier is seen talking, the military official said. Al Jazeera denied having the video.

The two soldiers who were unaccounted for since April 9 were Sgt. Elmer C. Krause, 40, of Greensboro, N.C., and Pfc. Keith M. Maupin, 20, of Batavia, Ohio. Both soldiers were assigned to the Army Reserve's 724th Transportation Company, based in Bartonville, Ill. The official did not say which of the soldiers appeared in the video... "

BELOVED MERCIFUL FATHER,

We come before you in this hour to plea with you for the safety of our people who have been reported to be in enemy hands. We have seen video footage of Pfc. Keith Maupin. We have learned that contractor Thomas Hamill is being held. Sgt. Elmer C. Krause is missing and there is speculation that he is also being held. Father, send immediately legions of angels to protect these and any others who stand for freedom who may be in enemy hands. Father, we ask that you will stay the hand of any who may be tempted to harm them in any way.

We call forth your blessing and comforting Light to descend upon Keith's and the other families who are waiting for news of their loved ones. Grant them abundant Faith and Hope. Comfort them and grant them peace of mind despite the vortices of darkness and fear whirling around them. We are asking in the name of our Blessed Savior, in the name of the Ancient of Days, in the name of the Holy Spirit, in the name of your own blessed Self to intercede and take command of this entire situation! Beloved Father we are pleading for miracles of protection, comfort, healing, and mercy in this situation! Let ONLY your divine Plan and Will outplay in the lives of those involved.

Father, we surrender all pride, all selfishness, and all of the lesser momentums we indulge in, for we desire to be better instruments for your use to affect world events. Purify us, Father, for we know that you have ordained it in such a way that prayer and attention on you in a focused and intense and loving way is a key to divine Victory in world events.

Let your Light and angels pour forth in Iraq and the Middle East! Cut free all of your children from darkness! Protect those who stand for Freedom and liberation! Intercede, Father, in this hour and in the days to come! Guide our leadership and especially our President as our response is determined. We call forth the blessing and protection of those who are involved in gathering intelligence. We ask that they be successful in obtaining it. If it is determined that a rescue mission is planned, guide and protect those who will carry it out.

Father, we are so grateful that you are our Resource for strength and our constant Comfort! Thank you for hearing us, and we gratefully anticipate learning of the miracles, both small and large, which you shall perform as events unfold.

Amen

Prayer for PFC Maupin:

Lord God, we pray for this young soldier and his safety. Give him wisdom and clarity as he relates to his captors. Help him to see that exaggerated words spoken to keep himself alive will be understood by his commanders, his comrades, and his country. Give him the opening he needs while being filmed or recorded to send that clandestine message imperceptible to an enemy but recognized by our intelligence analysts. Above all, Lord, we pray for his spiritual condition. Draw him into a closer relationship with You. In Jesus' name we pray; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

From LindaSOG:

A call to Prayer:
Heavenly Father up above
Please protect this land I love
And all the people who dwell within
Until this battle You help us win
Father we need your heavenly light
In this battle with darkness which we will fight
Protect our loved ones while on foreign lands
Guide and protect them with Your mighty hands
Guide our President and all those he leads
Lord please give them the wisdom they will need
Give our service people more than guns
To win this battle with the evil one
Give them the shield of faith to protect their hearts
Let them know You are with them from the very start
Bring them home safely to the U.S.A.
Where once again together we'll pray
In thanksgiving to You for seeing us through
Knowing Dear Lord, we could never survive without You
AMEN!

Through G-d we shall do valiantly: for He it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Thank you for the prayers for Cesear.

His mother just called me, she was able to call Germany and talk to his nurse. He is just coming out of the anesthesia from his surgery. The surse told her to call back in a few hours after the anesthesia wears off and she will let her talk to him.

One very happy Mom will be calling Germany shortly!

He will be transported to the Naval Hospital here in the US but does not know which one. After he is in the US Mom will be flying to be with him.

Again thank you all for the prayers.
