I have a question. How much stock does Theresa own? What about the Heinz son who is supporting Kerry?

I do not want to penalize the Heinz company if they are not supporting Theresa and her gigolo. I need to know how many shares she owns and if she has any clout with the board.

In addition, how much money goes to the Heinz Foundation, which she controls (and send money to Tides which then sends money to leftist groups)?

Any additional information you have would be appreciated.

I just read that article. Boy there's a lot of class there.(NOT). I guess she thinks she can intimidate through threats. Don't you just love these people. Their cheap, bullying tactics just reinforce who they are and that is lowclass scum.

I buy Red Gold tomato products all the time. They are in Elwood In.

They have an outlet store in Elwood. (check hours of operation)

I buy cases of dented products for really good prices. The bloody mary mix is good by itself on ice!

I like Red Gold, too. (I am a Hoosier.)

I think I will just go with Red Gold wherever possible.

We are on the Atkins diet, so almost all of the Heinz products we wouldn't purchase, anyway. HA!

This boycott is a bad idea which will accomplish nothing.
But if you insist on boycotting, check your pet food.
Scooby Treats
Beggin Strips
lots of pet food made by Heinz.
I'm just putting this out there because I think their pet food is louzy.
I'd never allow anything but Heinz Ketchup n at in my house.
It's a Burg thing.

Based on the information in that link, I think I will continue to avoid Heinz brands.

No, her son is campaigning for Kerry.......and was asked why he changed parties since his father was a Republican.......

Probably trying to stay really close to his mother and Deuce Bigalow. Guess he figures he might be able to talk some sense into them and save some of the Heinz fortune for his future offspring. Bet he wishes his father left a better will. As for the boycott, been doing that for months since I found out Kerry's wife is the heiress to the Heinz fortune.

Wow. Ms. Kerry sure has a lock on things that are communistic, green and left. God help America if she gets anywhere near the White House.

The next time Kerry starts to talk about all the outsourcing, someone needs to ask him about the HEINZ company habits. I promise you it will shut him up for a while!!

I would like to see a reporter question him on the overseas factories too. I don't think it will ever happen though. Of course if it did he would go ballistic and say "How dare you question me, I am a war hero".

No, I won't be boycotting Heinz. If I refused to do business with every company some freeper doesn't like, I'd be killing my own food and cooking it over a fire in front of my lean-to.

I have a question. How much stock does Theresa own?

Am I really the only guy left on Free Republic who knows how to look stuff up? Why aren't Freepers insisting that the people who are advocating this boycott know what they're talking about? Why aren't they on the hook to provide evidence that boycotting Heinz ketchup (or any other Heinz thing) would take a financial toll on John Heinz' widow?

Here are the major shareholders in H.J. Heinz. Every entity that owns 5% or more of the outstanding shares must be disclosed. Mrs. Kerry does not appear on that list, nor are there any institutional holders that are connected to her.

Nothing wrong with Kroger vinegar, buy the regular and apple cider stuff all the time. Some stuff it doesn't really matter what you buy. Like sugar, eggs and milk. I do like specific brands of certain things. Luckily I didn't use much Heinz products to begin with. So on with the boycott!

I think this is a little silly. I don't like the idea of boycotting stuff just because it is made by Democrats or owned by Democrats

Boycotting is a patriotic American tradition since before the term "boycott" was coined. In the 18th century, the Sons of Liberty agreed to "non-importation" leagues, solemnly covenanting with each other not to drink British tea, not to purchase British woolens, and to avoid "foreign luxuries." The problem with our modern boycotts is that we don't really put any teeth in them. Back then, if a merchant brought in British goods, a sign in the shape of a hand was placed over the merchant's door, warning everyone not to shop there.

If conservatives stuck together on this, we could shut down corporate cowards and build up corporate heroes.

Based on the information in that link, I think I will continue to avoid Heinz brands.

Go back and read the "information" there. None of it has anything to do with the company. They are talking about foundations that she runs. OK, so she inherted a bunch of money, and because she is the widow of a Heinz family member, she gets to use the name "Heinz" in them. But those foundations have nothing whatsoever to do with the company of the same name.

This whole thing is STUPID. It makes Freepers look like a bunch of silly ignoramuses of the sort who would boycott French's Mustard in order to punish "the French."

We used to be better than this. We used to actually look up facts before we shot our mouths off. Now any idiot can come on here advocating the dumbest imaginable stuff, and a whole bunch of people jump right on it without asking the simplest questions about whether the idea even makes any sense. Arrgggh.

OOOHHH! This is one I'm gonna try! Thanks for the link, Neenah!

HOMEMADE KETCHUP

Making your own ketchup may seem a bit over-the-top, but we promise it's worth it. It's easy to do, and homemade is so much more delicious than supermarket varieties, which are loaded with corn syrup. Active time: 20 min Start to finish: 3 hr (includes chilling)

1 (28-oz) can whole tomatoes in purée 1 medium onion, chopped 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 tablespoon tomato paste 2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar 1/2 cup cider vinegar 1/2 teaspoon salt

Purée tomatoes (with purée from can) in a blender until smooth.

Cook onion in oil in a 4-quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat, stirring, until softened, about 8 minutes. Add puréed tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, and salt and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until very thick, about 1 hour (stir more frequently toward end of cooking to prevent scorching).

Purée ketchup in 2 batches in blender until smooth (use caution when blending hot liquids). Chill, covered, at least 2 hours (for flavors to develop).

Cooks' note: Ketchup can be chilled up to 3 weeks.

Makes about 2 cups.
