WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.

"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

Remember all of the large gallon water containers that were found in the subway? They were not dangerous and nobody knew why there were there?

It just came to me.
It was no test by terrorists; it was a demonstration.
They were meant to make the news and their intended audience was the government who was contacted either before or after, I'd assume.

NYPD, Secret Service spar on subway closing

New York may stop in its tracks the night President Bush accepts his party's nomination in Madison Square Garden.
While Bush is in the convention center Sept. 2, the Secret Service wants all Amtrak, NJTransit and Long Island Rail Road Service to cease, the Daily News has learned.

For now, the six subway lines that run alongside the Garden on Seventh and Eighth Aves. will remain open but won't stop at 34th St., government officials told the News.

There is still debate whether to demand the subway lines also be fully halted when Bush takes the stage that Thursday, the last day of the four-day GOP convention.

The New York Police Department, which is working with the Secret Service, denied any final decisions had been made.

"Obviously, we have added more protection to Penn Station and we are working closely and daily with the Secret Service," said NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne.

"But the station will be open and no major arteries will be closed," said Browne, the department's top spokesman.

"New York City will be open for business," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told the Daily News.

At City Hall, an aide said of the rail stoppage plan, "We are adamantly opposed to this."

The scrum over New York security emerged as officials in Boston revealed they plan to close two transit hubs for a full week, starting three days before the start of the Democratic Convention on July 23.

The convention is being held in the FleetCenter, which shares a building with North Station.

The worries over the rail lines and convention safety come a few weeks after train bombings in Madrid killed 191 people.

Are the trains safer

I can give you a perfect example of how they are NOT and how there is nothing that can be done about it short of profiling and checking every commuter's bag:

I ride New Jersey Transit into Penn Station every day. There are dozens of NJ Transit commuter trains running on many different lines throughout the state serving thousands of commuters every day. A potential suicide bomber equipped with a cell phone device get on the train at any one of these New Jersey stations, take the ride into NYC and detonate as the train enters the NYC tunnel below Penn Station. They can have a thousand guards and officers inside Penn Station itself, but it will do no good whatsoever in stopping them from coming INTO the station from New Jersey, or Long Island for that matter. I'm always on the lookout to see who gets on as the train pulls into those stations that have a large ME population.

In Fallujah, police retrieved the remains of the four slain Americans on Wednesday night, wrapped them in blankets, and gave them to U.S. forces, said Iraqi police officer Lt. Salah Abdullah.

"We were shocked because our Islamic beliefs reject such behavior," he said referring to the abuse of the bodies.

But did you know that there are 123 verses in the Quran concerning fighting and killing for the cause of Allah? Here are but a few passages:

-Muslims are encouraged to be wholly occupied (Sura 2:273) with fighting for Allah's cause.

- Allah will give "a far richer recompense to those who fight for him" (Sura 4:96).

- Regarding infidels (unbelievers), they are the Muslim's "inveterate enemies" (Sura 4:101). Muslims are to "arrest them, besiege them and lie in ambush everywhere" (Sura 9:5) for them. They are to "seize them and put them to death wherever you find them, kill them wherever you find them, seek out the enemies of Islam relentlessly" (Sura 4:90). "Fight them until Islam reigns supreme" (Sura 2:193). "Cut off their heads, and cut off the tips of their fingers" (Sura 8:12).

- If a Muslim does not go to war, Allah will kill him (Sura 9:39). He is to be told, "the heat of war is fierce, but more fierce is the heat of Hell-fire" (Sura 9:81).

- A Muslim must "fight for the cause of Allah with the devotion due to him" (Sura 22:78)

- Muslims must make war on the infidels (unbelievers) who live around them (Sura 9:123).

- Muslims are to be "ruthless to unbelievers" (Sura 48:29).

- A Muslim should "enjoy the good things" he has gained by fighting (Sura 8:69).

- A Muslim can kill any person he wishes if it be a "just cause" (Sura 6:152).

- Allah loves those who "fight for his cause" (Sura 61:3).
Anyone who fights against Allah or renounces Islam in favor of another religion shall be "put to death or crucified or have their hands and feet cut off alternative sides" (Sura 5:34).

- Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him. Sahih Al-Bukhari (9:57)

- Slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush. (Koran 9:5)

- Take him and fetter him and expose him to hell fire. (Koran 69:30-37)

- I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them. (Koran 8:12)

- They should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides. (Koran 5:33)

- Know that paradise is under the shades of swords. Sahih al-Bukhari Vol 4 p55

And Speaking of Paradise...

"There will be "gushing fountains" and everyone "shall recline on jeweled couches face to face, and there shall wait on them immortal youths with bowls and ewers and a cup of purest wine." Suras (or chapters) 55 and 56 of the Quran.

"Therein are bashful virgins whom neither man nor jinnee will have touched before ... virgins as fair as corals and rubies," sura 55. A few lines later, you might remind them of "virgins chaste and fair ... they shall recline on green cushions and fine carpets."

"The smallest reward for the people of Paradise is an abode where there are 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine, and ruby, as wide as the distance from Al-Jabiyyah [a Damascus suburb] to Sana'a.'"

It will be the day, God willing, you spend with the women of paradise...Know that the gardens of paradise are waiting for you in all their beauty, and the women of paradise are waiting, calling out, "Come hither, friend of God."

Well this is odd the Dims are scared of the terrorists?? I thought they wanted to be friends with them. It's just a guess, but I think New York needs to have more protection than Boston during the conventions.

Four Turks picked up: Were they arrested or abducted?

COTABATO CITY - Men in police uniforms aboard two vehicles bearing no license plates picked up four Turkish nationals here on Wednesday night, apparently on suspicion of having links with the al-Qaeda network of international terrorist Osama bin Laden, a report said.

Zamzamin Ampatuan, undersecretary of the Office on Muslim Affairs, however, claimed that the four foreigners, whom he identified as Mansur Omer Secuglo, Ismael, Amed and Alpaslan (their family names were not immediately known), were not terrorists, claiming they had been working for almost three years as consultants and lecturers at Imam Institute, an Islamic School based here.

Ampatuan owns Iman Institute at Tamontaka district here.

Ampatuan said uniform-wearing police officers aboard two Grey vans without license plates arrived at the foreigners’ apartment on Gonzalo Javier Street around 10 p.m. and took the four with them.

“I doubt that those men were military and police. They presented a memorandum from the Bureau of Immigration to intimidate other persons inside the apartment,” Ampatuan said when interviewed by Radio Mindanao Networks here from Manila.

“I believe this is pure abduction. Until now we have not received any communication from the suspects demanding ransom,” Ampatuan added.

The terrorist al-Qaeda network was responsible for the series of bomb attacks worldwide, including the September 2001 bombing of World Trade Center in New York City.

Farida, wife of Ampatuan, said in telephone interview that the Turkish nationals were not included in the memorandum showed by policemen to Secuglo’s wife, Anna Marie.

Quoting accounts of Anna Marie, Farida said the foreigners included in the memorandum addressed to Maj. Reymundo Liwag and signed by Immigration Commissioner Alipio Fernandez were Tarik Khan, Muhamman Almutawali and Mutalib Abdul Racman.

“A guy wearing a barong told Annie Marie that she had nothing to worry about because their operation was legal. The guy showed the memorandum coming from the Bureau of Immigration but those included there were not them,” Farida said.

Before the incident, Farida said Anna Marie closed their house’s main gate around 9:45 p.m. following a commotion outside, but later Secuglo opened it when somebody knocked.

“The wife of Secugco was even arguing with the police because they had no arrest or search warrants with them,” Farida said.

Ampatuan said Secuglo worked as director of Imam while the rest served as teachers.

“I am calling on the military and police to look into this. In fact, I informed them before they came here three years ago that they are not terrorists. I ask the public to immediately inform authorities if they have any information on the whereabouts of the four. I’m worried about their safety,” Ampatuan said.

The latest report said the four foreigners were taken to the Bureau of Immigration in Manila.

The arrest of the Turkish nationals took place as the military and the police stepped up their operations against the extremist Abu Sayaff Group, six of whose members were arrested in Metro Manila where they were reportedly on a bombing mission.

Jordan aborts arms smuggling from Syria

AMMAN, Jordan, April 1 (UPI) -- Jordanian authorities disrupted an attempt to smuggle a truckload of arms and explosives through the border with Syria, security sources said Thursday.

Daily al-Arab quoted the sources as saying police were searching for suspected terrorists who planned to carry out attacks in Jordan. Security was stepped up around government buildings, foreign embassies and vital installations to prevent possible hostile action.

In the meantime, the Interior Ministry offered a reward for tips and information leading to the arrest of three suspects believed linked to terrorist organizations.

A ministry statement said Suleiman Khaled Darwish, Azmi Abdel Fatah al-Haj and Mowafak Ali al-Adwan, are dangerous criminals wanted by the security authorities and urged citizens with information about their whereabouts to contact police.

Two Arab television channels also reported Jordanian authorities discovered a booby-trapped car smuggled into Jordan to be used in a terrorist attack.

Al-Arabiya of Dubai and al-Jazeera of Qatar, citing government spokeswoman Asma Khoder, reported security forces confiscated the car Thursday after a thorough search. But Khoder told UPI she had made no such statement.
