WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.
"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

I saw that. Also there was a memo to various National Park Officials indicating that their services must be cut. They said to do things like close parks on Sundays and Holidays, etc.- so people wouldn't be upset.
Interestingly, it said that alot of money had to go to searching National Park areas for illegals coming into the country.
Made me wonder again about those teepees and other quickly lashed together shelter options- clearly for use in wooded areas.

TERROR WARNINGS IN NY??
AP source: Queens workers take suspicious trash to police:TERRORIST ALERT IN NYC
NEW YORK -- A box containing material that warned about terrorist activities and books on electronic circuitry and aircraft was found by sanitation workers collecting garbage on a Queens street on Wednesday and was taken to a police precinct, a high-level police source told The Associated Press.
As a precaution, police scanned the workers' garbage truck for radioactivity and got a reading high enough to prompt them to evacuate the 114th Precinct, but the box and the truck's contents were later deemed not hazardous, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The incident began around 9:30 a.m., when sanitation workers picked up the box outside 25-40A 36th St., in the Astoria neighborhood.
The landlord and the tenant who lived at that address had gotten into a dispute and the tenant left or was evicted, the source said. The landlord cleaned out the apartment and placed the box at the curb, the source said.
The box contained "material produced overseas that warned about terrorist activities," the source said, adding that the material was not a "how-to manual." The material was in English and Farsi, the language of Iran, the source added.
Besides the books on electronic circuitry and on aircraft, the box contained 24-gauge wiring, the source said.
The tenant was identified as a 46-year-old Pakistani national, the source said.
Police were investigating the tenant and the material found in the box.

French Basques Raid U.S. Iraq Administrator's Home
Thu Mar 18
SAINT-JEAN-DE-LUZ, France (Reuters) - A group of French Basques Thursday stormed the grounds of the holiday home of Paul Bremer, the U.S. chief administrator in Iraq (news - web sites), to protest against the American-led invasion of the country.
Around 15 members of the left-wing Basque nationalist movement Abertzaleen Batasuna (AB) clambered over the gates and let off fireworks and firecrackers during a 20-minute raid on Bremer's residence in this southwestern town.
"We wanted to symbolize the war the United States imposed on the Iraqi people," said a spokesman for the group who did not want to be identified.
"We wanted to carry out this operation on the holiday home of Paul Bremer because this is where he comes to forget the war in Iraq, and we want to remind him that when he comes here to rest, the bombs continue to fall on the Iraqi people."
Anti-war groups are organizing a global day of action against war Saturday, the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq which toppled Saddam Hussein (news - web sites).

Thanks for the report on Asteroid 2004 FH. 26,500 miles sounds awfully close. I didn't read your post until 12 noon Eastern Australian time. Hope it has passed! You might find this article interesting:

Bill O'Reiley - Zwahajiri Killed By US NAVY SEALSFor those not watching, O'Reilly said that FOX has info that Task force 121, along with Pakistani troops, have killed a man they believe to be Al-Zawahiri and 21 other Al-Qaeda members.
They're saying that "it's all over but the DNA (testing)."
Still speculative, though.

Marshalltown Crews Investigate Explosive MaterialsMARSHALLTOWN, Iowa -- Officials are investigating explosive materials found inside a Marshalltown home.
The police were notified Wednesday of an unidentified man at 410 Union St. (pictured, left) who appeared suspicious. That house is unoccupied and police said it had been broken into.
Authorities were unable to locate the man, but a search of the house found two containers of explosive material.
Thursday morning, fire and police officials searched the home again and found numerous jars of an unknown white powder, blasting caps, fuse material, two cans of black powder, a detonation cord, shotgun shells, and firecrackers.
No actual bombs were discovered.
It is a felony to possess blasting caps.
Police Chief Lon Walker said the house had been abandoned for an extensive period of time and it was hard to determine how long the materials could have been there.
Walker said there was no danger to the neighborhood and the area is secured.
