I fear you are correct.
Alas we wouldn't fight fire with fire, and that may be the end of us.

Yea no doubt in my mind - that's not to say we won't win, its just that we are handicapping ourselves.

I suppose you were right the first time. This is a religious war, and been going on for 4,000 yuears. This is Allah versus the infidels. Destroy their "god" and you destroy their will. Expose their god as being impotent. Promise to shower their countries with pig fat.
Level the Mosque of Omar, if that isn't sufficent, level Medina and then Mecca. This is strategic and will prevent the loss of innocent life.

They have made many warnings in the past, and I think they used the Madrid bombings as a signal to their operatives in the field. Couldn't they have just made a few phone calls?

Go to Google, and type in "Black Wind of Death Muslim".
This will take you to a very interesting read about the meaning of "black wind of death".
To: Arrowhead1952
I was thinking more on the line of this.

"The next attack will lead to millions of muslims looking towards two smouldering ruins for prayer."
Yup.
To: Iron Matron
"If muslimes attack the United States again, I'm fearful that it will not bode well for the muslimes currently calling themselves Americans."
I was thinking the same thing. If they hit us again, especially with some sort of WMD, I would not want to be a Moslem in America.

Man, I thought I was the only one who did stuff like that!

"Anyone ever expecting the USA to go nuclear, even should we suffer a limited nuclear attack by terrorists, is living in fantasyland."
I disagree. If we are hit with a nuke, all the restraints will be removed. I think we'd even do a "selective burn" if we are hit with something that causes a huge amount of casualties, even if it wasn't a WMD.

I understand the reason for the picture, but it sent chills up my spine. When I first looked at it, I thought of a large gathering of Americans at a concert or something.

Just correcting the AP for the zillionth time . . . It's a mistake to concentrate on bin Laden and his so-called "militant" muslims. Bin Laden is just a general in a much larger army, and they are just its shock troops. When we concentrate on the entire army of islam instead of one of its elite units, we'll win this war rather quickly.
Here's a fun little piece of popular muslim lore to remind us what we're up against. It's near and dear to every muslim's heart:
"Ali Ibn Abi Talib encountered a man called 'Umru and told him, `I indeed invite you to Islam.' 'Umru said, `I do not need that.' 'Ali said, Then I call you to fight.' (This was the same policy Muhammad used with those who rejected his invitation.) 'Umru answered him, `What for my nephew? By God, I do not like to kill you.' `Ali said, `But, by God, I love to kill you"' (ibn Hisham, "The Biography of the Prophet", part 3, p. 113; see also Al Road Al Anf part 3, p. 263).

OK, we disagree then. I don't think there is anybody on the US political scene today - on either side of the aisle - that would make that decision.
Talk of 'all restraints would be removed' is nice, but I just don't see 'all restraints removed' after a limited nuclear strike against a couple of us cities meaning 'we go nuclear.'

Well according to what I read, the Black Wind of Death is either an economic collapse or a nuke. But the description of the Black Wind as being of fire and ash and smoke and boiling water sure sounds nuclear to me.
To: HitmanNY
The pressure for a nuclear response to a nuke attack on us would be substantial. Moreover, there is not a nuclear power on this planet that would not nuke in response to it being nuked first. And you know it.
