They have made many warnings in the past, and I think they used the Madrid bombings as a signal to their operatives in the field.

I would not take the 90% to mean that they have merely 10% of their preps left before they strike. 90% is symbolic of "were are almost ready to knock the snot out of you".

Some people think they will wait until Bush is out of office to attack again. I don't think that is the case. If another attack happens that is as large or larger than the 911 attacks, I don't think it will matter even if Ralph Nader (GO RALPH!) is in office.

Our reaction will be reflectsive, irrational and vengeful. America is the 1000 lb gorilla of the world which has, even after 911, never been let out of it's cage. We have reacted with amazing restraint in Afganistan and Iraq in order to prevent civilian casualities. If there is another large scale attack on the US it is my humble belief that the US will not show any restraint, including the use of multiple nukes in the MT range.

I don't think hitting symbolic targets will get the desired results. We need to strike only strategic targets, namely the killing of our enemies and their supporters. Iraq, Syria and N. Korea come to mind. Parts of N. Africa may also need out 'attention'.

I slightly disagree with you. We should understand and destroy them. The 'understand' part does not mean sympathetic. I mean 'understand' in the tatical sense, in the Art of War sense.

Not a chance. The US has shown over and over that it will be more forceful than it had been in the past, but ultimately wouldn't do anything so extreme - destroying holy sites or holy cities, as you suggest.
