I have a lot of relatives in Spain. I'll tell you the truth, after 9/11 it was a family argument and a divisive issue 50/50. Tomorrow morning I'm betting that 90/10 of the spaniards will understand the motives of our great President.
Spain has always had terrorism, but sporadic and not targeted at Spaniards and this is not ETA.
Sorry I got off the subject.

Thanks for the input. I'd like to hear more of the viewpoints from inside Spain, especially since I don't trust the US media to report it accurately. Please feel free to share whatever thoughts you and your relatives have on all this, I'm all ears, and I imagine there are lots of other freepers similarly interested.

Actually ETA is probably just as ticked off as anyone right now. The ETA are Iberian separatists, not killers of Spaniards. They minimize their casualties and usually call ahead to evacuate. They target politicians. This is home squabble, The Spaniards will eventually solve this issue with ETA. But the incident today may just help the ETA realize that they have someone else on their turf with a different ball and a new game.

So does this now mean that Real Madrid and Deportivo will have to play their home CL matches in a neutral country as Besiktas had to after bombings in Turkey?

Real Madrid (The greatest club in the world, ehhh never mind, the universe) will fill the stadium Bernabeo like usual. Except for 2 things.
1. The stadium will be filled with really pi$$ed Iberians.
2. The cream color team wins.

Hmm this makes the BBC's afternoon focus group's bashing Basques moot. They'll have to regroup and get some 'experts' in to talk about the 'religion of peace' and how Spain is mean to them...plus, it's all Bush's fault. Oh the Pain! Lost a chance to blame this on Christians. Since it will be Muslims at fault, the media drums will soon fall silent. Then the recriminations about how Spanish foriegn policy against minorities is to blame, their Christian culture, etc. Back on track again.

If the terror group is destroyed, and the ideology is not, it defeats the purpose, and a new similar group will raise. Answer = the 2nd Amendment. These bastards start blowing things up regularly and every US citizen is deputized to kill anyone who even farts in an Arabic tone.

...and he suggested "Arab resistance" elements were involved. Just like here in Israel, "Arab resistance" always makes the first strike.

Once Mohammedan, always Mohammedan. Of course, this could apply to all of Europe up to Vienna, Austria, since this was the high watermark of Mohammedan (Ottoman) expansion. More like the toilet bowl ring...

I guess we have to quit being surprised --- there seems to be no limit to the absurdity that political correctness takes.

The romans called it Aquitanian That sounds similar to Occitan (sp?), the traditional language of the south of France around Montpellier. The region is called Languedoc, meaming Langue D'Oc or language of Oc (Occitan). Am I right that they would be connected in some way to Basque heritage, then?? Very curious. I went to school there.

I thought Torrejon, Zaragoza, and Moron closed down in the late 80s/90s. Almost sure of it. (I grew up playing baseball at Torrejon.)
