This fine young man is doomed.
He's white,
He's conservative,
He's smart,
He's a gun owner,
He has a job,
He's a decent person,
and I assume he's "strait".....

In Kalifornica that's an automatic "maximum sentence allowed under the law" deal.

How someone people can allow children to be treated like this and still call this a free nation is beyond me.

.........modify such expulsion requirement for a student on a case-by-case basis."

Not exactly zero tolerance. Maybe 10% tolerance or whatever.

BTW don't you have the slightest hesitation about taking a position against zero tolerance. Or are you just full of irony?

Of course there is a solution to this and all other firearms related issues.

Ban all the guns... Then we would all live in a peaceful utopian paradise with no violence, no crime and Hillary Clinton as Dictator for Life.

It's been a long night...
I'm really glad that I live in Kansas.

G'night.

Many public schools have taken the liberty to expand this policy to include toy guns, food items being used as toy guns, and children pointing their fingers like guns.

"Mrs. Jones, your son was caught pointing his finger like it was a gun. This behavior is not tolerated."

"Oh good grief, what's wrong with you people? All he did was point his finger! No one was harmed in the least! All my son did was point his finger fer cryin' out loud!"

"Yes, yes, we were very lucky this time. All he did was point his finger. But what if he'd actually used it? We just can't afford to take that kind of risk!"

"Anyway, I'm a busy man, and I'm afraid I'll have to bring this meeting to a close. You can discuss your son's case with the social worker on... let me see now... OK, right. You can meet with the social worker on the 25th of next month. Perhaps she'll have better luck explaining things to you. By the way, you can also request supervised visitation at that time if you desire."

"But... but... but... this is insane!"

"Madam! Do not threaten me like that! Shall I have to call the police for you too? I'm not surprised at your son's risky behavior, now that I see what kind of 'parent' raised him!"

I suppose this would be a bad thread for me to mention how we used to take shotguns, high-powered rifles, and .22's to school all the time ... for 'marksmanship' class and for hunting and shooting before and after school ... about how when I got a new deer rifle (a .270WinMag) the coach came out to my car and took a look at it ... as a compliment, not a law-enforcement act.

It seems like a different planet, but it wasn't even 30 years ago. Yea, were much better off these days ...

Its based on the perception the greatest evil are guns not the people who might harm others.

The problem nowadays is that nobody knows what DISCRETION is anymore.

Zerotolerance is the epidomy of the law of unintended consequences. You get hysteria by a few sucker moms scared of gang bangers and you get a law of zero tolerance.

And oftentimes people like Adam are the ones caught.
