Schizophrenic much? Sticks and stones...
But I would hope that we ALWAYS run conservatives who can get moderate votes.
If Ryan gets past the primary, it will because he won the moderate votes, yes that is a good thing. But in the absence of a large quantity of Conservative votes, it should be viewed as troublesome.
But of course then you blew it in the next post with the "Mr. Moderate" crack and your insistence he isn't a real conservative. Get a grip!
The person who needs to get a grip is you sir. If you cannot take all my words in the context they are written, you are not doing yourself a favor by posting. I called him Mr. Moderate because his win will be marked solely by moderate votes. Once again for your interminable illiteracy, I did not say he wasn't a Conservative. In fact in the post prior, which you read, and I trusted CL would read, I indicated just that.
I'll say it one more time for ya, k? Mr. Moderate is a Conservative whose claim to the Republican primary will be based on overwhelming support from the moderate base of the Republican party. Conservative votes will be split between Rauschenberger, Oberwiess, and Borling, with a smattering of illiterate intellectual Conservatives voting for Ryan. :p

I called him Mr. Moderate because his win will be marked solely by moderate votes. It's hard to credit that because it has no basis in reality. According to the polls, Jack Ryan leads among self-described conservatives, moderates, and liberals, with about the same percent in each.

Conservative votes will be split between Rauschenberger, Oberwiess, and Borling Borling? You have a strange idea of 'conservative'! Why would the most 'moderate' candidate be drawing many conservative votes? For that matter, why Rauschenberger or Taliban Jim? Jack Ryan is more conservative than both.
What state and what race are you talking about? 'Cause it ain't this one!

Excuse me the 1920's were normally regarded as a time of an expanding American Economy and the Fordney-McCumber tariff was given much of the credit for that. Now as to your qupting some propagandist for "Free Trade" when dicussing history I would suggest you learn some hiostory prior to doing so. Now since foreign trade was at most four percent of the economy please inform me how the actual decrease in foreign trade which was well in place prior to the Smoot Hawley tariffs taking effect lengthened the Great Depression. Show an econometric analysis which backs up this view. Jack Ryan may well be the best candidate for this office but as I stated he has not shown a knowledge of economic history or economics other than spouting the current mantras.
I further point out NO Conservative supports any bill that restricts the Second Ammendment.
I realize Illinois is a state where Conservatives have to take what they can get but do not state this gentleman is a rock solid Conservative with these views and do not misstate economic history.
Did Ryan have a basis for his statement based on reading the conclusions of many reputable economists? Clearly yes. Did that statement show a knowledge of the actual facts. Clearly, No.
Your mistaterments of history do little to help your preffered candidate and do much to harm him. Why do you persist? Are you actually a Democrat trying to hurt the Republican candidate? Are you merely another shill who will sacrifice every other principle in order to maintain the current fraud caled Free Trade which is merely a set of trade policies designed to discourage investment in the USA in favor of investment in "developing countries" and sociailist economies.

Your mistaterments of history do little to help your preffered candidate and do much to harm him. I have made no "mistaterments". You and Buchanan are free to live in your own little fantasy world and reap the benefits of the prosperity you're trying to destroy.

First off I am not a Buchanana follower I am a
Conservative.
Second and foremost you are either mistaken on your historical facts which since I asked you to show some facts and you attacked instead I must conclude you are merely another lying dDemocrat seeking to hurt the Republican Candidate in Illinois Mr. Ryan by defending him withlies.
Your complete ignorance of teh details of Smoot Hawley which contradict your statements and the mischaracterization of Fordney McCumber tariffs and teh economic effects associated with them merely shows you to be another gun grabbing anti-American Democrat who is trying to harm any Republican.

You are free to say that Mackinac Center for Public Policy President Lawrence Reed is a moron though. I don't think he'll care what some random Buchananite thinks, though.

The word "Protectionist" is thrown out to the people that oppose NAFTA, GATT, WTO, ect... Its used to silence them because the pro globalist do not want to debate the facts and logic of this old issue. Moreover, the term "Protectionist" is an old term that was used against Americans in the early 20th century that did not want to be involved with the war in Europe.
Trade tariffs were set up because the cost of living is different in every country. Its not all the same. Therefore, it was it was enacted a long time ago. It was these policy's that gave us the greatest standard of living in the world.
The Pro-globalist is based on a theory. All these jobs(keep in mind they do not tell you what type) will be created. However, the job creation numbers that came out last Friday says it all. Don't forget January's numbers were revised -23,000 too.
I am a big free marketer as long as its in the USA. I don't believe in high taxes, capital gains, or much regulation. Nevertheless, it does not take a rocket science to realize this is a bad deal for us. Yes its will raise the standard of living in other countries, and lower ours by slowly eliminating the middle class.
