I don't consider myself to be a Republican either, though I always vote that way.

Considering joining the party only as a slap at Democrats.

Your GOP registration ups the public profile, affects districting, and those less principled than you can see GOP base as something more worth considering.

Plus, voting in the primaries.

I have considered joining, and probably should, as I said, if only as a way to take a slap at the Dems.

Not that I am filled with admiration for the Republican Party, prefer it though I do to the other one.

BTW, my opinion is that it is not good politics to ignore your natural allies (such as the writer of this piece). I'd say their reticence at participation in party politics is quite understandable.

George Washington, for one, may well have agreed with such a stand.

Yes, nice little article. The principles listed do transcend party politics. They wouldn't be so worthwhile if they didn't.

Yeah, I'd say the Republicans have been going very wobbly.

It isn't useful for contemplation to put your hands over your ears and pretend other opinions do not exist.

As to participation, the poster is participating more than those who blindly support one political party. They are the bystanders and toadies.

You imply that if one isn't a member of one political party of the two dominant ones he is a bystander. That is ridiculous.

Hmmm...Because I like handouts...I can't think for myself...I don't believe in personal responsibility...I FEEL like it...I like to be told how to live...I believe a good person can be liar...Christianity gets in the way o my personal choices...Waffling is a thought process, not a breakfast food...killing the unborn allows me to be free...The hollyweird crowd are my role models...I have an absolute right to be absolutely wrong...I am jealous of Pres.
