If Kerry wins, I don't want to see you on FR complaining about Janet Reno II being Attorney General.

I'm going to bookmark this thread.

If Bush signs this, I won't vote for him, I'll write in somebody else.

I'm convinced they simply do not care any more.

How, precisely, is a ban on assault weapons a violation of the 2nd Amendment? I'm being serious and sincere in the question, so I'd appreciate a serious and sincere response.

"Assault weapons" is a political term. A more accurate term is "tactical rifle."

Where does the Constitution empower the Congress, or anyone else, to abridge our rights to own tactical rifles?

The purpose of the Second Amendment was to serve as an obstacle to tyranny. If we make the claim that the 2A only applies to muskets and flintlocks, how can we use those weapons to resist armed tyranny from the government?

80% of the GOP Senators voted against the AWB, 80% of Dems voted for it, and you say there is no difference between the GOP and the Dems?

You were part of the "SCOTUS will fix it, so let's appease on CFR

So was I- until the SCOTUS ruled. Now I know it is wrong for anyone to expect the courts to the job we expect of politicians. Don't even get me started on the courts...

Landrieu was just reelected in 2002. She won't be up again til 2008.

She ran a disgusting campaign that mirrored her personally. Now I am praying that Vitter wins breaux's seat and begins a change in LA politics.

These principled stands over bits and pieces of the proverbial pie are going to cause the eventual and problematic loss of the entire pie.

Man, I am sure glad it wasn't I that posted this.

You've got it all bassackwards......

I just sent this fax to Nelson.........

Saint George Tucker (1752-1828)
"The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction."

Senator Nelson,
Today, Sir, with your vote on S.Amdt. 2637 (To provide for a 10-year extension of the assault weapons ban.) you helped push this country closer to the brink that St. Tucker spoke of a century ago.

How can you not realize that the AWB is a direct infringement on the Second Amendment?

Are you or are you not supposed to uphold the Constitution?

When I moved to FL(from IL) in 2000 I thought I moved to a state that holds the RIGHTS of gun owners in high regards, with Senator Graham's and your vote today, I guess I was wrong.

I didn't pay much attention to politics until about a year ago, now I watch C-span and follow the laws proposed in the Senate & House and will ACTIVELY CAMPAIGN AGAINST YOU AND SENATOR GRAHAM so FL will be represented by Republicans in the future.

Have a nice day......=)

If you find the list, please post it to the sidebar as it's own thread in Breaking News or Front Page News.

People should know which Republicans voted for this.

If Kerry wins,

If Kerry wins, it will be the difference between being shot to death (with Kerry), or slowly poisoned (with Bush).

Either way, yer dead in a week.

If the AWB is put into law, it will no longer be that either team is fighting for my side.

One of the more interesting discussions I recall, of late, is the difference between looking at issues, and life, as a matter of group identity, vs. individual identity.

I prefer the notion of individual identity, and think thet the limited government envisioned by the founding fathers meant to preserve individual freedom according to the measure of individual responsibility.

This "my team," "their team" dialogue is entertaining, yes. But in the end, who cares what team one is on? Period! Why care about team identity, when issues can be discussed in terms of trade-offs between individual liberty and group benefit.

I enjoy your posts and spirit. Thanks.

Now you want to stake a claim about folks not caring about CFR?

Show me the marches against CFR. CFR is not the end of the world to people who don't follow politics. That's the reality.

It must give you furballs that reality doesn't follow your self-implied omnipotent political wisdom.

The Senator I voted for voted for this POS.... He's a traitor in my eyes. He won't get my vote again.

If we are going to lose our rights, let's get the ball rolling so we can fight while we are still young.

BTW, I don't want to see you complaining either about Janet Reno II if Kerry wins.
