FreeRepublic has become all talk and no action. Action? Action like voting the fascists into power so that they can actually kill the opposition this time around?
Get thee behind me....

"Can the 47 filibuster the bill that comes out of conference? Throw their tactics back at em." While I agree with your sentiment, I would bet that if 47 Pro-Second Amendment Republicans try to filibuster, that the RATS have the guts to force them into a genuine 24 hour a day effort. The fanaticism of the RATS is why they still have inordinate power in this nation.

"...but we control the agenda and we can bring forward only the bills we want to make us look good."
Are you on drugs? The Pubbies surrendered control of the agenda to the Dims some time ago, especially in the Senate. The Pubbie senate leadership is an utter embarrassment.

The time approaches when the only 'votes' that will truly matter will be the ones made from the rooftops.

Wrong. I refuse to be taken for granted.
IF GWB and the Republicans want my vote they can earn it pretty easily. Otherwise, I have something better to do on the first Tuesday in November.
Fortunately, this isn't likely to be the case. Zell Miller and Saxby Chambliss voted against this, so I'll go to the polls to help elect Miller's replacement (wish he would stay - we need more Democrats like him...). Hopefully, it will be Herman Cain.
But if the President signs this...thing, I won't vote for him - my Presidential ballot will be blank since it will be obvious he doesn't want my vote. I'll have to settle for Congressional gridlock (which is not such a bad thing after all...).

CFR has proven to be pro conservative, yes?
Only if by "pro conservative" you mean "anti-Constitutional, but temporarily favorable to appeasing Republican efforts to 'take the Democrats' issues away!'"

Let's save the vivitrol for when there is a need for it.
If you could do that, it would be really great. Thanks.

"CFR has proven to be pro conservative, yes?"No. It is a clear violation of the 1st Amendment. It is suppression and regulation of political speech. That is not conservative.

The House will vote against it and it will be taken out in conference. I called my Congressman 10 years ago. I was amazed that he picked up the phone line! He promised me the exact same thing--it will be taken out in conference.
Forgive me for being cynical this time.

Dear Bush,
We may not agree on everything, but you are doing a good job. Sign this and you will be out of one.
Sincerely,
Texas Voter.
Someone tell Karl Rove that signing this piece of crap is a term killer for Bush.

No, I meant pro conservative in the sense that the vast majority of working class citizens who find a way to contribute $2000 determine who wins, not the small segment of the populace from Hollywood who were given $10 million increments in soft money to the DNC, who then funnelled it to candidates.
When working people, not welfare types, decide matters, that is pro conservative. The Dems somehow stumbled their way into this disaster.

I count ten Republicans in favor: Chafee, Collins, DeWine, Fitzgerald, Gregg, Lugar, Smith, Snowe, Voinovich, Warner.
Six Democrats opposed: Baucus, Feingold, Landrieu, Miller, Nelson (NB), Reid.
Tim Johnson of South Dakota did not vote.

The House had better knock this one out in Committee, or Bush will sign it and lose 500,000 votes, minimum, and maybe the Election!

"Brilliant strategy, just quit and give the Dems a win so they can get 9 steps closer to turning us into Great Britian."
The Brits willingly surrendereed their freedom and embraced their enslavement like sheep. There are too many true Americans still around who "will not go gently into that good night." They will fight. They may lose, but they will have fought as free men, not sniveling milquetoasts like their cousins across the pond.

I don't think losing would bother GWB. He probably has link time scheduled, or maybe a quail hunting license...

We're screwed, the AWB will be perm, centerfire ammo will be banned, and gunshows shut down.
And I'm not sarcistic, I think we lost it all at this point.
