February 28, 2004 -- Mel Gibson's controversial "The Passion of the Christ" scored a second strong day and could take in a whopping $100 million at the box office in just its first five days, experts said yesterday. Thursday's reported take by distributor Newmarket was an estimated $14.7 million, a drop from Wednesday's opening-day number of $23.6 million.

We went out to dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant tonight and at every table around us, people started talking about the PASSION! It was amazing. People loved it or they plan to see itr soon!!!
We are in South Florida by the way.

This just means that Hollywood will saturate the public with strong bible stories or epics over the next 12 months.

Most Hollyweird producers hate Jesus. They may think the money's good in Jesus films, but they never make a decent Jesus film. And Mel's film reigns supreme.

May your families be cursed for generations to come,
Don't stoop to their level friend. It will all come out in the wash.

With something like 25 to 50 million kids in our nation alone, vulnerable to their manipulations, I think my comments were rather mild.
There are warnings to the unrepentant, and also warnings to believers to subrogate their wrath to the Lord, who reserves certain tasks to Himself:
Exodus 34
6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
Jeremiah 31
28 And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.
29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.
30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
Romans 12:
19Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,"[1] says the Lord. 20 Therefore
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head."[2]
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
[1.] 12:19 Deuteronomy 32:35
[2.] 12:20 Proverbs 25:21, 22

Let me explain something to you. As a person who recognizes what these cretens are doing to our youth, and this nation, it is my obligation to speak out against it. Furthermore it's my obligation to speak out against it stridently. To do otherwise would be to lend tacit approval through silence.
I suffer no dilusion regarding who is the ultimate judge. And when that judge sees what these men have done, I believe He will judge them along the same lines I have. It goes without saying that He is not bound by my opinion on this, but as a man who realizes what these folks are doing, it is my obligation to voice truth so that others might realize they are not alone in their revulsion.
Go peddle your judgements to someone else. Righteous indignation is no vice.

Wow. I'm in Southern California. That means this is happening on both coasts, and I'm sure , all the way across the country.
I'm just so glad for Mel Gibson and the people who made it. This is such a triumph, after the libs tried to ruin them, and ruin the film, by lying about it. Jim Caviezel (he played Jesus) was on Jay Leno tonight. He was talking about all the things he went through on the set. He got hurt. He deserves an Academy Award for his acting . He did an outstanding job.
This is so great. Congratulations to everyone in the movie. It will probably turn out to be the smash hit of 20004.

Nice comments, but as optimistic as I am, I think that 20004 prediction is somewhat premature. Heh heh heh... Later.

This movie will have legs for months IMO. We're assembling a family group to see it on Sunday afternoon. I've been channel surfing, and I've been listening to critical comments by Lawrence O'Donnell and Christopher Hitchens, as well as some Jewish leaders. Their negativity will only cause people to want to see it.

I thought Viet Nam was a Catholic country before the war.

..A teen aged girl in the line, told her friend that it was violent, but that she couldn't believe "all that Jesus went through for us"... And that is the point that people need to walk away from this movie with. The Christ went through this for us, and it was not easy for him. It defines the word sacrifice.

Central Missouri here, almost the exact geographical center of the U.S. Everyone I know is talking about the film and it's sold out in the only two theatres within 50 miles.
A woman I work with saw it, and she and her husband had planned to go to dinner afterwards, and she said that after the movie, they didn't feel like eating out, so they went home, made coffee and prayed. Amazing phenomenon Gibson has made.

I saw it last night. It's interesting how the secularists decry the violence and bloodshed. What I recall most from the film is the flashbacks during Jesus abuse by the Romans: his teaching on the Mount, to the stoners of Mary Magdalene, to his disciples at the last supper, and the Resurrection. They were exquisitely filmed. These scenes and Christs teachings, which most are familiar with from scripture, were intimate, profound and moving. They IMHO, heal the raw visual effects of Christs suffering, and are what may inspire the doubters, not his suffering.

Was it crowded?

they are already being cursed....egg on their face's and empty spaces in their wallets.
That's the only curses they understand anyway....public humiliation by the whole world knowing they were wrong and all that money going to someone other than themselves.
They are probably having Prozac delivered to their homes by the truckload.
