Amazingly enough, this was in the Ithaca Journal.

Not so amazingly, the young man who wrote this does not live in Ithaca.

In any event, this heartfelt statement from an actual enlistee should be required reading everything.

A lot of times, I think our country's best really are in the armed forces. Not just because I was in the army myself, but because of gestures like this. Find any other country's enlisted soldiers who can take initiative like this.

Wanna start taking bets on how many letters to the editor will pour in from the more "enlightened" populace telling this kid how "blinded" he is? There may be one or two calling him a baby killer, but most will be paternalistic professors who know so much more about the world than this country bumpkin, taking pity on him for his ignorance.

Shaun McCray, a senior at Lansing High School, enlisted in the U.S. Army in July, 2003.

This young man deserves support and thanks for truly well written opinion. God bless him and all our men and women in uniform!

Those in uniform truly do come from the best amoung us. The majority coming from the counties that President Bush won. While the liberals whine, their betters will protect them in spite of themselves.

Three, there is evidence that is being held by the Department of Defense that supports Bush's actions and statements proving that Hussein owned stockpiles of WMD's as well as previous attacks on his own people.

While I admire this young man's courage and his service to the country...should he be giving out this info? Might get him into some trouble with the DoD. It might backfire on Bush, as they can say that he is witholding the info for political reasons, to be released a few days before the election, which would be typical drivel coming from the idiots in Ithaca.

This a wonderful post. Thank you.

The two voices most often ignored by the press throughout the war are the two groups who have the most to do with Iraq's future: those who suffered for decades under Hussein the monster ~ the majority of Iraqis, and our awesome troops who are paying a high price for the freedom of this nation today.

May God bless, protect and comfort them all, and may they know deep inside how much they are loved by us on the homefront.

Have followed and enjoyed your posts quite some time and agree with your assessment of Ithaca. This letter in that city's paper is ...well, all I can say is, check the sky for flying pigs.
