[history]
Many people have doubted President Bush from the time he took office, particularly regarding the credibility of prewar intelligence. What I don't understand is that when former President Bill Clinton decided to stay in Somalia, people didn't doubt him or protest his actions -- and his was a major military blunder. Nineteen U.S. soldiers died and the mission wasn't even completed. We pulled out six weeks later after the intense 15-hour firefight in Mogadishu, Somalia. Few protested when Clinton bombed Baghdad in Operation Desert Fox. What about Kosovo?

I'll be waiting for them.
They shouldn't be too far away now.

Doris Kearns Goodwin has a son like this in the military stationed in Baghdad.
She considers him brainwashed, and bragged that her other son was working for Dean.

Then he must be unemployed now. I'm sure she'll blame Bush for adding to the unemployment rolls.

This a wonderful post. Thank you.
The two voices most often ignored by the press throughout the war are the two groups who have the most to do with Iraq's future: those who suffered for decades under Hussein the monster ~ the majority of Iraqis, and our awesome troops who are paying a high price for the freedom of this nation today.
May God bless, protect and comfort them all, and may they know deep inside how much they are loved by us on the homefront.

As someone who has enlisted as a soldier, I am trained to keep my opinions about political issues to myself and not to voice them in fear of them being misconstrued as the views and opinions of the United States Army. However, these are not the views of the U.S. Army. They are my own. I feel the need to stand up and protect my Commander in Chief (President Bush) and my government as I would in combat with the enemy. In that light, I strongly believe that many accusations against the president are false statements that are meant to sway opinion during the election season.

To America's Soldiers ~ An open letter by Barbara J. Makuch
"I want to thank you for my existence. I want to thank you for your sacrifices, and for your courage, because without your heroism, this world would indeed be a different place. Were it not for the brave soldiers who liberated my father from Dachau, and my mother and her family from the Nazi slaveholders, I would not be here today. Nor would millions of others, all of whom remain indebted to you...."

Have followed and enjoyed your posts quite some time and agree with your assessment of Ithaca. This letter in that city's paper is ...well, all I can say is, check the sky for flying pigs.

I wonder how he would know whether the DoD has more evidence than has been released. If the DoD has it, why wouldn't Kay have known about it? And, of course, the evidence we have never gets discussed in the press that insists no evidence exists. I remember the Iraqi press reporting a handwritten memo from the Iraqi intelligence chief to Saddam telling him they had selected one of the 9/11 terrorist/pilots to lead a mission against the enemy after assessing his training in Iraq. But that memo never was discussed in our press. I can see why DoD might hold onto info as classified, so that could be justified. The important thing is whether the info is provable beyond question.
