Terri Schiavo's Family Files Contempt Motion to Obtain Terri's Medical Info

Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The family of Terri Schiavo, on Tuesday, filed a contempt of court motion against Terri's estranged husband Michael. They say he is once again withholding information from them concerning Terri's medical condition, in violation of a 1996 court order.

Last week, Terri began vomiting and Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, asked nursing and hospice staff what had caused it and what measures were being taken to treat Terri.

Terri is currently living at Park Place Assisted Living Facility in Clearwater, Florida, and staff at the facility told the Schindlers that they were under orders from Michael's attorneys not to divulge any information.

That prompted family attorney Pat Anderson to file a contempt of court motion against Michael.

A 1996 judicial mandate by the Pinellas County Circuit Court requires Michael to provide Terri's family with current information concerning her medical condition and treatment.

"Michael Schiavo's flagrant violation of the simple and understandable terms of the 1996 order is deliberate and contumacious," the motion says. "Its harm to the Schindlers is continuing in nature, but they are not the only ones harmed."

The motion says the Schindlers are concerned for their daughter because the vomiting "could result in aspirational pneumonia, a life-threating condition for a patient such as Terri, especially if left untreated."

Mary Schindler said she is worried that the positioning of Terri's body during the tube feedings is a possible cause for the vomiting.

The 1996 court order required Michael to notify any future nursing home that provides care or medical services to Terri "that he has no objections to the nursing home discussing [Terri's] medical condition with Robert Schindler or Mary Schindler."

The order also required Michael to provide the Schindlers with any neurological reports and to inform them of any "significant changes" in Terri's medical condition.

Additionally, a court order in September of 2003 directed Michael to provide a discharge summary from Morton Plant Hospital to Terri's parents. He has yet to comply.

I'm wording an email to Gov. Bush (JebBush@myflorida.com) to send now; will call him and probably others after I get out of class tomorrow. Will send card to Terri at Park Place. Will probably call the place to ask about her and express concern.

I do hope many will be outraged and moved to contact Gov. Bush -- that might be where our efforts should be concentrated.

HOW can Terri be missing 2 teeth in such a short period of time???

Michael Schiavo stated on Larry King Live that Terri's teeth were fine, didn't need cleaning because she wasn't eating or something to that effect and now she's losing them?

ok, I just sent an email to Gov. Bush (JebBush@myflorida.com) telling him that Terri's missing teeth, decubitus ulcer, and Greer's ruling are unacceptable. That's a start.

It seems to me that allowing a patient to develop a bedsore and then not treating it would be a definite violation of Florida law. All states have standards in place to ensure adequate care at these "assisted living" facilities. This facility must have a state license to operate, and a complaint should be made immediately to the appropriate authority. They deserve to lose their license.

Going to Greer for any relief is a waste of time, IMO. He's bought and paid for.

Something is horribly wrong with that staff who won't even talk to the parents. How sadistic. Wouldn't surprise me if someone knocked those teeth out considering the type of people who have charge of her.

Please everyone see # 173 & 175. Something has to be done. And they call this "death with dignity"? Maybe contacting Greta or Gloria Allred? I saw Gloria once speak out in favor of Terri.

Something is not right with that judge. Bought off? Blackmailed? Vested interests? Or simply part of the trend in this country of dictatorship of judges? Sandra D of the Supremes publicly said that she was not about to follow the Constitution but international trends, no matter that she took an oath.

Florida has a number of judges gone bad who should be recalled.

I just wrote Governor Bush. The confirm receipt said - I am currently experiencing a large volume of e-mails, and your questions will be answered as soon as possible. I know this is automated but here's prayers and hopes that the large email is due to Terri from Freepers and others who care.

I pray Gov. Bush takes action and successfully helps Terri and her family. Get rid of Michael and Greer and finally end the torture of Terri.

Just received a phone call from FloridaVoter. She was very upset over things that have transpired over the weekend. I'll try my best to get in all the points she wants to make. She has only one phone line and will be on the phone so she is unable to post at this time.

Terri has been transported to Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater with two teeth missing, bed sores, and puncture wounds in both arms. Judge Greer has yet to rule on the comtempt charges against Michael and she is very afraid that something could happen to bring about her death prior to the ruling.

The only one allowed in Terri's room with the door closed is Michael. He was on Florida TV this morning and was BLAMING THE SCHINDLER'S FOR THE PUNCTURE WOUNDS!!!!!!!

Protests are starting up again for Terri at Morton Plant Hospital in downtown Clearwater today and throughout the week. We need alot of people there today.

She asked that all freepers start calling the Florida legislature, including Webster, Lee, King, Bird and the governor, everyone.
