Posted on 02/25/2004 4:47:28 AM PST by conservativefromGa
Senate debate on the gun manufactures liability bill will begin at 9:30 this morning on C-Span2. Expect Feinstein to attach her Assault Weapons Ban renewal rider on it. Also McCain may attach a rider closing the so called "gun show loophole". This is it folks.

My understanding is that the senators can practice libel and slander freely without fear of civil action.

Lousenberg (the Illegal Senator) just stated that S1805 would victimize the Sniper victims and their families a second time.
To: Dan from Michigan
What Frank is doing would be called libel in any jurisdiction outside of D.C.

Can this thread be moved to breaking news and the title altered to indicate live debate?

Bullseye is open 'til 7 PM today, says Lousenberg! Says the Senators can pick up an "assault rifle" if they care to!
To: BushMeister
assault rifles? Well, Jay Rockefeller I think can. Doesn't he have a class III?

Frank, you got gazillions of dollars. IF you want them taken care of, pay it yourself.
The firearms industry didn't do anything wrong.

The Bushmaster XM-15 used in the Beltway Sniper killings is neither an "assault weapon" nor a "high-powered rifle" nor a "sniper rifle".
These killings could have been accomplished just as easily with grandpa's hunting rifle.
To: BushMeister
Would have actually been MORE effective had it been a hunting rifle.

Would have actually been MORE effective had it been a hunting rifle. Well, the terminal ballistics are pretty complicated, and there are cases in which it's worse to get hit with a .223 round than other rounds, but the differences are pretty negligible, especially when we're talking about head and chest shots of unsuspecting human targets within 100 yards.
But you're right when we consider that most hunting rounds expand upon contact.

Lautenberg just said "when a product is made improperly, you pay the price for it..." IOW, he refuted the dribble that's been spilling from his mouth for the last 10 minutes.

YES I DO REGRET IT FRANK. If a woman relative of mine is convicted of domestic violence(especially in a dual conviction case), I damn well want her to be able to protect herself, especially if he's an abuser.

You're an embarassment Frank. Especially to our nation and to our electioneering.

Well, the bigger problem with having "spousal abusers" lose their gun permits is that a spouse could get a restraining order or make a false abuse claim against someone, and he (usually it's a man) would lose his rights to keep and bear arms, without a legal proceeding or finding.

Sen. Craig now setting the record straight re: Bullseye Gun Shop. The original Bullseye owner lost his license and sold the business to another FFL license holder.
To: All
Sen. Craig (R) noted that Malvo admitted stealing the rifle, refuting Lautenberg's claim that it was the result of "under the table" dealing. I'm disappointed that he didn't pick apart a few of those other statements that I posted to the thread.
