Third Union Pacific Train Accident in Six Days
The third Union Pacific train accident in just six days occured Thursday morning just after 5 a.m. The good news is, no one was hurt or killed. Thursday's accident was a derailment of 24 cars. It occured between Ivey and Inglewood, under the Americas overpass on the city's east side.
Union Pacific officials told ABC 7 the train was on an overnight run from Los Angeles to Dallas. The reason for the derailment is still unknown and investigators said it could take up to months to determine the cause.
Union Pacific has had a tough week. Just this past weekend, four people were killed in two separate accidents. And, the lawyer for the family of one of the victims from Saturday's accident may file a lawsuit claiming the company uses outdated and unsafe equipment.
