[history]
February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

""And the list of missed targets now includes both the White House as well as the Capitol."
Add the pentagon. It was a miss like the first wtc bombing, and I think it's a key target for them to open the door for more attacks.

Surah 70. The Ascending Stairways, Staircases Upward, Sckeptic
1. A questioner asked about a Penalty to befall-
2. The Unbelievers, the which there is none to ward off,-
3. (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent.
4. The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years:
5. Therefore do thou hold Patience,- a Patience of beautiful (contentment).
6. They see the (Day) indeed as a far-off (event):
7. But We see it (quite) near.
8. The Day that the sky will be like molten brass,
9. And the mountains will be like wool,
10. And no friend will ask after a friend,
11. Though they will be put in sight of each other,- the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children,
12. His wife and his brother,
13. His kindred who sheltered him,
14. And all, all that is on earth,- so it could deliver him:
15. By no means! for it would be the Fire of Hell!-
16. Plucking out (his being) right to the skull!-
17. Inviting (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces (from the Right).
18. And collect (wealth) and hide it (from use)!
19. Truly man was created very impatient;-
20. Fretful when evil touches him;
21. And niggardly when good reaches him;-
22. Not so those devoted to Prayer;-
23. Those who remain steadfast to their prayer;
24. And those in whose wealth is a recognised right.
25. For the (needy) who asks and him who is prevented (for some reason from asking);
26. And those who hold to the truth of the Day of Judgment;
27. And those who fear the displeasure of their Lord,-
28. For their Lord's displeasure is the opposite of Peace and Tranquillity;-
29. And those who guard their chastity,
30. Except with their wives and the (captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (then) they are not to be blamed,
31. But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;-
32. And those who respect their trusts and covenants;
33. And those who stand firm in their testimonies;
34. And those who guard (the sacredness) of their worship;-
35. Such will be the honoured ones in the Gardens (of Bliss).
36. Now what is the matter with the Unbelievers that they rush madly before thee-
37. From the right and from the left, in crowds?
38. Does every man of them long to enter the Garden of Bliss?
39. By no means! For We have created them out of the (base matter) they know!
40. Now I do call to witness the Lord of all points in the East and the West that We can certainly-
41. Substitute for them better (men) than they; And We are not to be defeated (in Our Plan).
42. So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they encounter that Day of theirs which they have been promised!-
43. The Day whereon they will issue from their sepulchres in sudden haste as if they were rushing to a goal-post (fixed for them),-
44. Their eyes lowered in dejection,- ignominy covering them (all over)! such is the Day the which they are promised!

I wonder why they would take a show off for over a month. Particularly when it seems to mirror what may be going on in the real world. Show..........virus comes in from Mexico, agents trying to find it.....terrorists place in hotel ventilation system. Maybe it's once again too close to the truth, maybe it's just me. (see my tagline)

If you go to google news and type in "aleg" four stories will come up about the pilots that died. Nothing since early Feb.

I guess it's the jihad version of the Stairway to Heaven.

The whole internet being down was my train of throught as well. Cutting communications would seem to be a key component of causing widespread panic (no one would know what was going on unless they had usable battery or ham radios). You raise a good point here.

YES, think moles moles moles, individuals you would never suspect, like the Saudi Sheikh, horse raiser, bon vivant at the Kentucy Derby, darling of the socialite jetset from Miami to LA to Aspen to NYC, found mysteriously dead of natural causes in Saudi.
Altho not an American, very much an interantional sophisticate cosmopolitan, unfortunately also, whose name and cellfone number was found in Abu Zubaydah's possesion, and via a con run by US SF, Zubaydah called this sheikh and the nature of the conversation confirmed to US intel that this guy was BAD, despite his western ways and life and chalets in France and estates in Kentucky.
A few months later he dies of natural causes.
But the trail to the Saudi Royals died right there.
Don't think we killed him, but Saudis, ostensibly on our side, did it to cover the tracks of Jihad that reach right into the palaces and bedroom of the Royals.
Detailed in Posner's Why America Slept.

Doubt it. It was designed to handle things like this. However, it might take out some areas and leave black holes.

Bingo - open borders = terrorist entries. Wonder what measures we are taking to prevent that from happening again?

Thanks for the weather report JP - will batten down the hatches (and my bird feeders and trash can). High wind warnings during terror threat time is not good news, however.

I agree.
He just copies stuff from other jihadi sites and forums.
No credibility.
Good entertainment value.

The 8080 music from digital noise was frankly awful. I ordered a sound generator chip, some bus buffers, an address decoder and a 386 amp. The sound chip was capable of all the fancy sound effects typical of Las Vegas gaming machines of the 1980 era. Much lower overhead on the CPU as well. I had more skill than money in those days. The swap meet yielded a Heathkit H-9 terminal. 40 chars by 12 lines. The local parts store offered a lowercase character generator ROM and some 2114 RAM chips. Five hours of prototyping made the H-9 into 80 chars X 24 lines with upper/lower case.
I did this stuff in the same time frame that I was teaching an electronics and microprocessor course at the local junior college.
You mentioned having a ham license. During that time frame, I had a refurbished ASR-15 teletype (from the swapmeet). I built a loop supply and a demodulator using 88 mH chokes with an op amp slicer. On Thursday nights, the southern California RTTY ham community would wait for Don Royer (W6PIR) of Pasadena to transmit the latest Playboy centerfold digitized into single-strike "art". I donated the refurbished ASR-15 to the local deaf community and bought the H-8. My wife was grateful to no longer hear the ASR-15 motor spin up in the middle of the night and hear that monster pounding away on the roll of paper.

Not an outrageous thought about hotel ventilation. My husband and I were traveling through California several years ago and stayed at a mid-range national chain motel. I thought the room smelled somewhat musty. We took apart the heater and got to the filter and it was FILTHY. Did not appear to have ever have been changed. It was an eye-opener for us to see. I wonder how many of them save money by never changing filters.
